Music was always an immense part of Arryk's life. He and his siblings learned piano and violin and other stereotypically Asian instruments as soon as they sailed over to California inside a wooden crate. From Asia.Everything changed, however, in elementary school, when Western civilization forcefully imposed itself on Arryk via the recorder. All third graders were to spend a period learning it, the most hated of all black blunt plastic instruments.
From then on, for better or worse, Arryk immersed himself and excelled in the musical arts, from starring in his 6th grade musical production of Tumbleweeds as the star Tumbleweeds, to playing the pivotal role of brother Dan in the 12th grade musical production of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat about a boy named Joe and his coat of dreams.
Unfortunately, fame, like fate, was a fickle mistress who whored herself out to anyone with a pair of shoes. Puberty, along with the Depression and internet spam, struck Arryk at a most inopportune time, and he lost his heavenly angelic voice to the triple threat. He since developed a severe gambling addiction, and consequently a heightened fear of green felt. Today, in his old age, Arryk remains a recluse, leaving his flat only to go to Ralphs for groceries.
