About Me

Raised in Garwood NJ, Mike Sike first started Djing back in '86. Channeling an appreciation of all things Jersey and an early love of the 'gate-way beats' of hip-hop(run dmc, beastieboys, LL, eric b and rakim, ect.) and hip-house(tyree cooper, fast eddie, richie rich, ect.) he quickly transmogrified into electro and acid house (todd terry, kraftwerk, bambatta) and on to freestyle/club. Deciding that he was coming at the club and music scene from the wrong direction while enrolled at the John Jay School of criminology, Sike gave himself tower clearance to pursue his music career full time. With a move to Manhattan in 1994 he started a Friday Night @ the Trip Lounge on Spring Street where he served up early breaks, techno and Drum and Base. From there it was on to Tuesdays @ Nation where he built a reputation and following on his utter disregard for genre; seamlessly blending Jungle, Hip Hop and Techno long before it was vogue to do so. Nation was one of the first East Village bars to have turntables and Mike manned the decks there over the course of 3 crazed years that old school New Yorkers are sure to hazily remember.  Exposure at Nation quickly parlayed into residencies at Save the Robots and Jungle Nation.  Having reoccurring roles with two of NYC’s most venerable and storied parties quickly led to national and global traveling gigs and it wasn’t long before he held a west coast residency  [Moto X Freestyle DJ, SoCal 99-00] Along the way Mike has worked with just about everyone on the East Coast music scene and has also pursued a career in music and production outside of the club circuit.  With numerous coordination and production credits to his name [Gucci, Ellen Tracy, Kenneth Cole, Miss Sixty, Derek Lam ect. ] and a few notable tracks under his belt, it is fair to say that he attacks every opportunity with the same determination with which he regularly mixes your favorite 80’s FM song into a blazing break beat set. Mike Sike currently calls South Beach, Miami home but splits his time between Florida and NYC.  Feel free reach out and touch him @ [email protected]. Especially if you happen to be that cute girl he loaned his yellow Fred Perry track jacket to at Nasa in June of ‘91…..he’d really like it back as it has his car keys in the pocket.
