Jah Muzik volume 1 is a compilation C.D that features some of Maui’s top musicians and artists. This compilation features everyone from Billy Kekona and Shane H.H.B. Kahalehau who already have many hit songs on the radio stations, to new comers such as Makamai Auwae who is only 12 years old, but sings like a seasoned veteran, twice her age. This C.D is a raggae style album with a positive message in every song. We believe that the public has been waiting for a C.D like this, because a large majority of Hawaii’s population has a love for God. There aren’t enough C.D’s like this in today’s music industry. We need more albums that spread a positive message to our local community. The Godfather of raggae music, Bob Marley was a firm believer in spreading a positive message. Remember his hit songs like One love? The lyrics were: “One love, One heart, Let’s get together and feel alright. Singing don’t worry about a thing, cause’ every little thing is gonna be alright....”. These were the kind of positive messages that He had in all His music. Even His son Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers had songs like “Revalations” which was based on the teachings from the book of Revalations in the Bible. We hope to create hit songs in Hawaii that follow a similar concept. We just want to create music that sends out a positive message to the teens and young adults in our community. The President and Producer of Music Ministry of Maui is Mark Yokoyama. He has owned several successful record labels in the state of Hawaii. These record labels include Lyri-Cool Productions, Inc., Faith Music International; and now he will be the President of Music Ministry of Maui. His record label Lyri-Cool Productions has been nominated for Hawaii’s prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano awards, as well as the Hawaii Music Awards. There has been numerous magazine and news paper articles written on Mark Yokoyama and Lyri-Cool Productions. He has been featured in the Honolulu Advertiser, Honolulu Star Bulletin, Fluid Magazine, Maui Time Magazine, and many other local publications. Some of the many C.D.’s that Mark has produced are Maui Style, Maui Style 2nd Edition, Mana Ohana Journey, Zacc Kekona 100% Love and Aloha, Maui Girls, Valley Island Vibin’ Vol. 1, Billy Kekona From Inside These Walls and many other projects. Some of the artists that Mark has produced have been featured on OC16’s OverDrive Live. Infact, Tiana’s video entitled Crazy Over You (Maui Style) was featured on the Overdrive DVD vol. 2. He has between 25-50 of the songs that he has produced in full rotation on many of Hawaii’s top radio stations. Out of the dozens of albums that Mark has produced, at least 50% of them has has hit the 1 spot or has been featured in the top 10 by the local radio stations and magazines. His CD’s have also hit the 1 spot at many of the local music stores. IE: Borders, Wal Mart, Request Music, Etc. Mark was also the creator of the music program at the Hui Malama Educational Center on Maui. His class consisted of approximately 20-30 students who still keep in touch with Mark today. He has been baptized and is a born again Christian. He hosts a bible study at his house every Tuesday night which consists of approximately 20-30 people. Also held at Mark’s place on Tuesday nights are Super Church, a Sunday school type of class that is held for the children so that the adults can concentrate on their lessons. Mark is actively involved with his church and attends services three nights a week. He has also volunteered his time to do one on one bible studies with some of the newer members and people who are just seeking to come to know more about the bible. So as you can see, Mark has the tree qualities that we require from our staff members at M.M.M. He has a love for God, a love for music, and a love for the people in our community. Music Ministry of Maui is dedicated to sharing the love of God through music. Our goal is to work with troubled teenagers and young adults in our community. We want to create a safe, and positive environment where they can come to enhance their musical talents, while being simultaneously spiritually fed. Our vision is to become the spiritually based Julliard of Hawaii. We plan to offer free classes in music recording, production, sequencing, mastering, graphics, business, promotion and marketing strategies. As well as classes on how to play various musical instruments. Part of the curriculum will include spiritual guidance in reaching their life goals. These classes will result in the completion of actual projects being produced for major distribution. Music Ministry of Maui will be staffed with professionals in the local music industry. Our staff has a track record of producing dozens of albums that have been distributed throughout the states. Our staff of professionals are the key to why we believe that the Music Ministry of Maui will be a great success.
