..Army Strong
There's strong, and then there's US Army Strong. Do you have what it takes? This 2 1/2 minute video shows the new ad campaign of the United States Army. The Alexander High School Cougar Battalion is a relitivly new Army JROTC battalion. We are 3 years old now and this year seems as exciting and more promising than the last. Are SAI is US Army retired Lieutenant Colonel Charles, and our AI is US Army retired 1st Sergeant Arnold. We have are a complete battalion with 3 companies, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and whe have approximatly 180 cadets in our program. Our highest ranking cadet and Battalion Commander is C/Lieutenant Colonel Crone. In JROTC we have specific codes, and guidelines we must follow as cadets. Everyday we recite the cadet creed to remind ourselfs of our duties and expectations as cadets. We also have a mission, which people often misconstrue as, "joining the military", in fact that is not our mission at all. Our Mission: To Morivate Young People To Be Better Citizens! From day one of JROTC cadets learn how to better themselves as citizens, and as leaders in the community. In JROTC we balace basic academics with drill, and we teach the inportance of physical fitness through PT, (Physical Training). We work hard to stregthen both the mind and body of our cadets. It takes alot of heart to be a cadet, but even more heart to be a Raider. The Alexander Raider team is a team in which its members are tested through physical fitness, and team work. Our Raider, (previously captianed by C/Major Fizer), team has done exceptionally well for its first 2 years of competition. The competitions consist of challenges such as the rope bridge, Advanced Physical Fitness Test, Cross Country Rescue, 5 Mile Team Run, Water Can Relay, and Map Reading. We have a Color Guard team, who presents the colors at all of our school's functions. The Color Guard team has gone to a state competition in its first year. Our Drill Team is relitivly new and its cadets are still perfecting their sequences. It is a possiblilty that we will have an Armed Regulation Drill Team, equiped with M1 Garands. Our Rifle Team is still in the process of being made, we lack a constructed range. The Battalion Staff is as efficiant as ever this year, preparing the Battalion with what it needs and how it runs. The Staff are as follows: XO-C/Major Crow S1-C/Captian Gilmore, S2-C/Captian Durden, S3-C/Captian Bolden, S4-C/Captian Tornow, S5-C/Captian Rodriguez. This year will is going to be full of new experiences, but we can only grow more aware and intellegent than last year. Sadly we lost a fellow cadet over the summer in a tradgic accident. C/SSG Daniel McCullough was 16 and he was going to be a Junior at AHS, he will be missed in our battalion and in our lifes.
