About Me

"[Katie's] voice soars like an arrow heading straight for the bull's eye. Simple, deadly and true." Lyn Gardner The Guardian."Katie Braybens rendition of Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want...wrenches at the heart." Jeremy Austin Times Online.Having spent the last two years playing gigs in London, Katie Brayben is fast becoming a popular addition to the Herts music scene. Influences ranging from Joni Mitchell and Tori Amos to Bob Dylan and Ani DiFranco make for an original and soulful musician with thoughful, sincere lyrics and powerful songs - performed on both piano and guitar. After a string of successful gigs in the Capital, Katie was asked to play at Hitchin's Club 85, where she impressed local music fans and promoters alike with her fantastic vocal range and emotive performance. Other Hertfordshire bookings followed, including a spot at the Rhythms of the World Festival in July 2004.Following an ephatic reception at ROTW, Katie and her band were asked to perform on the Portmill stage in 2005, where thousands saw an energetic and soulful set that won Katie a host of new fans, young and old.Songs with an emotional appeal that has captured the imagination of anyone who has encountered them, and a debut album planned for late 2005, suggests that this talented young singer songwriter has an interesting and encouraging year ahead.
