Inspiration comes from no where and everywhere

Okra Win Free’s front man, Michael Deej’s passion for music began not with a guitar or microphone, but witth a pair of headphones. Exposed to the experimental and innovative sounds of rock acts such as Led Zeppelin, Cream, Yes, Peter Gabriel, and Pearl Jam, he cultivated a unique and introspective approach to writing music.

Initially drawn to a harder sound, Michael has since incorporated a wide range of modern influences, resulting in infectious, innovative and evocative songs. After several years of touring with multiple bands Michael finally found the right musicians to help portray his vision. Members include long time friend Sean Villere on guitar, Brian Prokop on drums, Eric "the head slasher" Lindberg on guitar and Mark Stewart on bass.

Influences: The fans are always our influence. "When music is written to be heard, the beauty of her words can be appreciated. The soul of the song is passed on to the listener who then carries that around indefinately and in essence the song lives."
