About Me

--Please visit my music page, Passionflower, to hear my original music!-- Me? I am currently a reclusive artist, for the most part. I play guitar and sing and write songs and poetry and short stories. I need to get back to work though, and step up my dedication level this winter if I'm to achieve any of my goals regarding my art. I make beer. I'm into sound and light, and recording tech. I'm finishing this house I've built in the middle of nowhere; a nice place really. I like to host parties and music events in one way or another, both small and large. I like to cook and eat tasty foods, good food makes me happy. I can party like a rock star, one of my specialties, but I'm getting too old to do that every night. I enjoy peace and silence as much as I do excitement. The people in my life are so important to me, life would be a dull place with out friends and family. All in all I'm very happy to be alive right now, and I'm trying my best to share that with those around me. Attitude is everything, with our minds we shape our perception of the world. I believe that blessings surround us, that being and doing are more important than knowing.

My Interests

Myspace Layouts Making and listening to music, hanging out with friends having a good time, reading, collecting books (especially really old books of poetry), Snow skiing and water skiing, hiking, gaming out on my computer wasting precious time, making fine ales, gambling on poker hands (hold em), traveling (I hope to travel a lot this next year), getting my house done (hopefully also this next year).

I'd like to meet:

I'm not that picky really. I like nice people better than nasty buggers. Usually I can tell if I like somebody within the first few minutes of meeting them, sometimes after one look in the eyes. But I'm trying to make fewer and fewer negative judgements about others, and just use what wisdom and discernment I possess to guide my own actions. I'd also like to meet my old rock idol, Chris Cornell, and maybe jam a little.

Music:

Television:

I don't watch T.V. anymore except for football, but I still have a fond place in my heart for Seinfeld. I don't care much for vicarious living, commercials, poor fiction, trite sitcoms, the news. or any show glorifying the lawyer, doctor, special agent, or law enforcement occupations. That rules out almost all TV, doesn't it? I used to like South Park. The Chappelle Show is sometimes very funny, the Daily Show too, I like Comedy Central... not enough to want to pay monthly for it though...

Books:

Currently reading: Illusions by Richard Bach, The Baroque Cycle by Neil Stephenson (VERY good stuff). ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------- I have read more books and authors of books that have moved me than I could possibly list here or even recall. When I was younger I would read until dawn, and spend much of my free time reading. I am rooted in the English classics, because my grandparents and family would almost always give me books for christmas and birthdays, and I have a pretty extensive hardback collection of everythings from Hemingway to Poe, Dickens to Twain, Turgenev to Hesse, etc.-------------------------------------------------------- ------But I have read far more pages of fantasy and sci-fi. I loved the Lord of the Rings when I found it, and re-read it five or six times. I loved the Silmarillion especially. I was into Robert Jordan's books, but he's pissed me off. The Dark Tower by King was cool up until the last couple of books, then he pissed me off too. I'm addicted to George R.R. Martin, though he's a sick bloodthirsty soap-opera genius. Roger Delazny is one of my fav's, Lord of Light especially. Jack Vance, Frank Herbert, Ray Bradybury, Robert A. Heinlein, Stephen R. Donaldson, Orson Scott Card, Guy Gavriel Kay, etc. etc. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ My favorite author is Gene Wolfe. He is freakin amazing. The Book of the New Sun series, The book of the Short Sun, anything! READ HIM!

Heroes:

I don't really believe in heroes that much, in holding up a person on a pedestal and idolizing them. But I believe in heroic actions and ideas, and believe that in every moment of every day there is heroism being performed somewhere on this world. I'd pick my mother to be my hero if I had to choose though, she's saved the day for me more times than I can count... plus she taught me to count, which is cool. Anyone who lives life with complete honesty, freedom, and integrity is a hero. My goal is such.
