Club 299 MAKES POVERTY HISTORY 2007 was amazing and this will be BIGGER and BETTER.THE BANDSNINA MAY Nina May are an unsigned rock act from Brisbane, Australia. Forming just over a year ago in April 2006, the band has quickly taken the Brisbane music scene by the balls. If you happen to catch a gig, you’ll notice Nina May sport a large fan base for such a young band. They’ve pretty much been gigging constantly from the get go. The band released their debut EP “Make Love to your Stereo†in June 2007. The CD was mixed by Dave Leonard (The Butterfly Effect, The Small Mercies) at Modern Music studios, and is already receiving acclaim. With all this under their belt in just a year, who knows what Nina May do… After an amazing performance with The Veronicas at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and an outstanding performance with Good Charlotte, be sure to catch them on the 22nd December at Bar 388 supporting Shihad!!MIACARLA Forming in late 2005, Miacarla have already scored support slots for Australian pop punk legends Bodyjar, New Zealand hip hop outfit Fast Crew, Sweden’s Blindside and Canada’s Crowned King. Their diverse sound allows them to hit the stage with an array of bands, which in turn, is growing their strong fan base. In late 2006, Miacarla recorded a two track promotional CD with Australian Producer, Alex Markwell (Bodyjar, Van Lustbader, 28 Days), which multiplied the demand for the band. This year has seen the band rise to a whole new level as they have endured a ruthless playing schedule performing with such bands as hardcore outfit Irrelevant and punk rockers Stealing O’Neal just to name a few. They played at both Rock It In The Park 07 and Transition 07 before undertaking a tour of Sydney in June. Mid year also saw the boys taking out the title in the 2007 Jim Beam Battle of the Bands competition held on the Gold Coast. This in turn has lead to radio play of their first single ‘The Search’ on Sea FM. The guys have just released their rockin' new EP. Check it out!! The Miacarla boys played this year at the Taste of Chaos to thousands of screaming fans. Be sure to catch them at the Gold Coast BIG DAY OUT 2008!!!ESCAPING VAUDEVILLE Escaping Vaudeville are a 5 piece post hardcore band hailing from Brisbane. EV was formed in late 2006 - following the break up of the current members past respective bands. They came together with a desire to create music that would captivate fans of all genres and that's exactly what they have done. Their eccletic mix of dual vocalists, melodic guitar riffs, unique harmonies as well as a dynamic stage presence has earnt the band the respect of not just local bands but interstate ones as well. In EV's short history they have already shared the stage with local heroes Repeat Offender, Say Nothing, The Amity Affliction, Avalon Drive, Another Day Down, Riviera, Saint Lucia and Aver as well as NZ punk/hardcore legends - False Start, Sydney based - Smithtown Riot, A Silent Fiction, and Melbourne's Stealing O'Neal and Vanden to name a few. The hype surrounding this band continues to grow along with their ever increasing fan base. Their first demo is expected to hit the airwaves in mid May - which will no doubt boost their popularity even more. If you haven't already seen this band - you need to do yourself a favour and do it! The EV crew have a new EP on the way, called "Divisions". Be sure to get your hands on it!THE COLLAPSE & THE CHARADE The Collapse and the Charade is one of the newest bands to form on the Gold Coast, however all of its members are from previous Gold Coast bands. When Gold Coast band Aver parted ways, 3 of the 4 members started The Collapse & The Charade. This is one band you would regret not seeing.FROM THE HEARTS OF HEROES This is one band to definately check out. From The Hearts Of Heroes joined up of guys from different bands.
