About Me

The first Rad Unicorn album, Asleep In The Forest is now available! Buy it here .

Rad Unicorn is a guitar and bass duo that sings quiet, sad songs about nightmares and dreams and other ridiculous things.

Our music twists bass, guitar and vocal harmonies into a secret message for folks who can't stand the despair. We don't know what the message is; we just pass it along.

We're Suzanne and Ero, both formerly members of the noisy San Diego art-pop band The Nylon-Coated Cats. Now we've become unicorns, and would like you to come frolic in our enchanted meadow. We may never wake up.

We’re about to play a show

And we’re nervous. Being nervous is always part of it. I’ve been playing music in front of people for some 15 years now, more often than not to an audience of 5 or less ...

The Nylon-Coated Cats

Suzanne & I useta be in a band called the Nylon-Coated Cats, in the 1990s in San Diego. I'd formed it as a guitars-only duo with my long-time smoking buddy and roommate Carlo, and Su joined as a f...

We like Tarkka the Road Outlaw

Back in August a grizzled stranger appeared at our door, stinking of road-weariness and aged by years of travel in the farthest corners of the globe. After the initial shock and fear subsided, we reco...

Ero luvs Eno

Not just because of the cassette of him and harold budd  (the plateaux of mirrors) that my dad's boss made the mistake of lending me when I was  13 (i never gave it back, entranced by the moody new-age...

The Brotherhood of the Mandolin

Way out on Staten Island, there's an unassuming building that holds the key to my heart, and at the moment also holds both of Rad Unicorn's primary instruments. A building with Stan the smiling multic...

Nina Nastasias All Right, and So Is Jim White

Last night courtesy of our friend Ray we saw his band the Castanets as they skipped over hot lava and skated on thin ice. Ray has a way of leading his band into danger- I played with him a couple time...

The Dirty 3, Pablo Casals, Glenn Gould, and... gravity wins a decisive battle.

We got back from our Montreal/Vermont trip in two pieces, as we'd hoped. Montreal is an incredibly beautiful city- very clean (well, compared not only to NYC but even other cities I've seen). Our ling...

I like Roy Montgomery

Here it is, 3:17 am. I've just uploaded a preliminary mix of The Nyctalope. Those of you who've been to a show or two of ours (hi, Jonathan and Whitney!) would know this as the quiet sad song. Among q...
