Miika Salo started making techno in 1992 armed with a Commodore Amiga and Octamed tracker, sometimes also with synthesizers and other equipment. Miika was influenced mainly by ambient, Aphex Twin, English breakbeat and German hardcore. Together these made an interesting and unique mixture.
In late nineties Miika formed a group called Phokuz with his Tampere collague Reko R. Phokuz produced smooth trippy breaks with all the classic gear, including Juno 106, TB303, MC202, TR606 and so on. Phokuz released tracks on Exogenic Records (Helsinki): 'Malign' in 1999 and 'Citybred' in 2000. The most memorable gigs were at Labyrinth (Helsinki, Lepakko) and at Koneisto festival (Turku, Kupittaa).
2001 - 2004 Miika produced strange cross-over electro/computer game music/technohouse/hip hop music projects. At last in 2005 he got back in composing music seriously and send his new tech-house tracks to Frozen North .
In 2008 Phokuz is making music again and a new project Bleary-eyed Globe is started. Breakbeat/breakcore and ambient albums should be out this year. New tech-house tracks also coming up. Lets see what happens...
