I love music! I grew up on old school punk and metal. My two all time faves include Slayer and Mastodon! My local faves include Foxfire (shameless promotion, Artimus Pyledriver, Gonzalez, Zoroaster, Thunder King, and Starchild (local enough). In current rotation: always Mastodon and Slayer, Throttlerod, Alabama Thunderpussy, High on Fire, Betty Blowtorch, Leadfoot, the Lunachicks, COC, The Bronx, Sabbath, Soundgarden, the Clash, Ministry, Death Angel, Down, Fireball Ministry, Pantera, AC/DC, Electric Six, QOTSA, Naked Raygun, the Hellacopters, and Watch Them Die. Some other faves include . . . early Rollins Band, Death, Sepultura, Public Enemy, L7, Alice In Chains, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Celtic Frost, the Exploding Hearts, Blondie, Manic Hispanic, Nuclear Assault, Monster Magnet, White Zombie, Operation Ivy, Paris, Vice Squad, Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, Verbal Abuse, Nomeansno, Cro-mags, Imminent Attack, Bad Brains, Angry Samoans, the Adolescents, Voi Vod, Pantera, and Probot. Here is where the dorky teacher thing comes out . . . I tend to watch CNN and the International News Channel, the Weather Channel (not sure why), the home channel, the History Channels, and Discovery Times Channel. I also like the Daily Show, Law and Order, the Sopranos, Sex and the City, Rome, the Simpsons, and That 70s Show. ("hello Wisconsin") Oh yea, another fave . . . Freaks and Geeks!
I read a lot!!! And I read a variety of things, from History and social issues to suspense fiction. But, you know what I read more than anything else . . . essays written by 10th graders! (and no, that is not for fun)
Anyone who has overcome adversity in their life yet managed to thrive. Those people that have not allowed their misfortune to become an excuse for current difficulties and failures.
