About Me

There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open. - Nehru
Smalltown boy who's developed a bad case of wanderlust. Put me on a plane or a train or a boat and I'll be happy. Other than that, I've been known to ski and/or snowboard, bike ride along the beach, make movies (in various capacities), play Euchre (there's a reference only a midwesterner has a chance of getting I think), sky-dive, bungee jump, write a book, drive to the middle of the desert to watch shooting stars, lie in the hammock in my backyard, camp beneath the giant sequoias, explore caves, explore bookstores, explore abandoned buildings in the bad parts of downtown LA, give lengthy and irresistable foot massages... and I can cook a pretty dangerous batch of chili. But none of those things regularly and some of them only once or twice. (I think I'm done with jumping out/off of things for a while). And I think that people who don't periodically make time to walk barefoot in wet grass or on a sandy beach should have their feet taken away from them.

My Interests

travel, random discoveries, booksfilmsartideasmusictechnology, the fine art of relaxing with a good novel next to the fireplace ... and whatever my ADD consciousness latches onto.

I'd like to meet:

Interesting people. Here's a test - check your pockets. If they're full of ideas/aspirations/dreams and miscellaneous assorted funny bits then we're in good shape. If all you find is lint, we may have a problem...

Music:

On the table next to me: Sigur Ros, U2, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Peter Gabriel, Charlie Parker, Gladiator soundtrack, Tori Amos, Susheela Raman, and Eminem. The table under the TV has a different pile. As does the car.

Movies:

Brazil, Dr. Strangelove, All that Jazz, Raiders, Apocalypse Now, se7en and/or Fight Club, Bladerunner, Big Sleep, City of Lost Children, Spirited Away, LOTR... tomorrow the list will be different..... Oh yeah, and www.hopethemovie.com .

Television:

That's the thing I've got the DVD player hooked up to so I can watch movies, right?

Books:

Cormac McCarthy, Twain, Bill Watterson, Poe, Zelazny, Gaiman, Camus, LeGuin, Vonnegut - hell, I don't know. There's about a thousand books laying around my house, and that ADD thing makes it hard to choose.

Heroes:

See 'Books'.... :-)
