M.Shadows real name is Matthew Charles Sanders. He was born in 31 July 1981. He is the vocalist. He had been together with his girlfriend, Valary DiBenedetto, since grade 6. Val was formerly the band's manager. Recently, they got engaged! He got his name M.Shadows because when he was in high-school, and the band was just starting out, he was a darker kid but he also wanted to incorporate his name, Matt, into his stage name. Matt was reduced to M. since he didn't like the sound of it. Since then he has been M. Shadows.
Synyster Gates real name is Brian Elwin Haner Jr. He was born in 7 July 1981. He is the lead guitarist. He dated the twins of Matt's girlfriend, Michelle DiBenedetto. He was famous because he did the solos. His father, Brian Haner Sr, is a musician and was often called Avenged Sevenfold's official acoustic guitar player for his appearances on their CDs. He attended the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. Synyster was also a member of the band Pinkly Smooth, a side project with The Rev along side former bassist of Avenged Sevenfold Justin Sane. Synyster also has newly released a clothing line called Syn Gates Clothing, with his girlfriend. He got his stage name when he was drunk and in a car, he sneaked out his head and said "I am Synyster Gates!"
Zacky Vengeance real name is Zachary James Baker. He was born in 11 December 1981. He is the rhythm guitarist. He is dating Gena Kathleen Paulhus. She was a hairstylist and she did Zacky's hair. He played guitar since he was thirteen years old, and is self taught. At one time played in a punk band called MPA. He and M. Shadows formed Avenged Sevenfold. His name comes from his name Zachary to Zacky, and he considered his band becoming big as revenge to everybody he hated in high school, his last name became Vengeance. He has been known to wear Misfits t-shirts, his popular Jack Daniels t-shirt, as well as shirts from movies. Vengeance released a clothing line called "Zacky V. Presents..." on December 19, 2005. His trademark is "Est. 6661". He also owns a dog which he named Ichabod C. Vengeance.
Johnny Christ real name is Johnathan Lewis Seward. He was born in 18 November 1984. He is the bassist. He is dating Lacey Franklin. She was still studying. He is the third bassist for Avenged Sevenfold. He is the youngest in the band. Johnny said that when he first joined the band he would always sign "Johnny" when he was signing autographs, and the other members were ragging on him and telling him that he needed a last name. Eventually Zacky Vengeance came up with Christ and said; "Hey why don't you become Johnny Christ". As stated on All Excess, Vengeance said, "Yeah, Christ is a pretty ballsy name, and he's a little shit, so it fits." Thus his name is now Johnny Christ.
The Reverend Tholomew Plague real name is James Owen Sullivan. He was born in 10 February 1981. He was the drummer. He was dating and recently became the fiance of Leana. The Rev got his name by first of all saying that he wanted his name to be The Reverend Tholomew Plague. The decision was seemingly random, as there were no specific reasons stated as to the inspiration for the name. The Revs does the screaming in some parts of Avenged Sevenfold's songs as well as a fair amount of back-up vocals.
