My interests include being interested, and some day I hope to become interested in being interesting.
My favourite place in the world is The After Dark. Especially on "Sesame Street" or "Fool's Gold" nights. Not so much on the 80s nights, unless I have been to Sesame Street the night before and I am still in the same clothes. But NEVER instead of. That would be WRONG.
I suppose my other interests are destroying the evil ones. And playing PlayStation from time to time. I will destroy anyone on any game, apart from football games because football is for nonces. When PS3 comes out you will most likely never see me again, especially if they make a decent controller for it and not the bent one that they have designed that doesn't rumble. The dumb fuckers.
Any and as many friends, old and new, for drinks and laughs and rock & roll, and whatever. A friend recently described MySpace as "a necessary evil", and he was dead right. But I decided recently to attack this evil will full Bentley force, and the good might just overpower the evil. I'd like to use it to unite people; whether they are on MySpace or not. So let's get the good times rolling. The world's sucked for so long, let's turn it around and rock it back to the right way.
Essentially, I believe you should treat everyone as you'd like to be treated. Most of the time that means pissing in the wind, but it's worth it for the times when you're not left with stains on your trousers. Karma is a great thing, according to Earl Hickey, and I for one believe him.
Some of my favourites include: The Wedding Present, QotSA, Evan Dando,
New Order, The Smiths, The Rakes, Dyson's "Life of Crime", The Cure, Nirvana,
The Lemonheads, Teenage Fanclub, Manics, The Stone Roses, The Carpenters, The Shirelles, Saint Etienne, Suede, Chilly Gonzales, Dirty Pretty Things, Sam Cooke, The Grates, The Go! Team, The Verve, Bowie, Elvis, Quasi, Cinerama, and thousands more including millions of obvious ones I've missed out. Hmmm, my sums are a little awry there.
Check out my friends The Bandinis:
This is Dyson's "album", more a collection of songs he improvised when pissed that he can now never escape thanks to me, muah-hahahaaa:
My friend Simon has a band called Concept (below left)...
...and Shelly has a special place they call Finky's Secret Garden (above right). Lovely people making lovely music (with the exception of Dyson's music which is an acquired taste but I love it).
I appreciate lo-fi, and punk, and so much more, so long as it's not hair-based bullshite. Bentley can dance to anything so long as it's not too cheesy. But I am so sick of hair-brained music, i.e. bands who are more concerned with their image than the music. For fuck's sake. Prime example: Razorlight. What a bunch of gormless cunts, but oh, look at his cunting hair! They must be good if they have good hair, right? Wrong. The fuckers. Keane, also, are shit. Just dire, cringeworthy cunts.
Remember though kids, you don't have to be in a band to be rock & roll. It's not a default ticket to cooldom.
I love Lars von Trier and David Lynch in particular. "Wild At Heart" and "Lost Highway" are two of my favourite movies. Also, among others: Blue Velvet - Withnail & I
The Jerk - Hard Boiled - Spinal Tap - Star Wars (it's in my blood now, even though the new ones are ropey and the "Special Editions" were a total farce) - Alien 1-3 (not 4, that's one of the worst films ever made and an insult to the first three) - Spider-man - Batman Begins - Scarface - 28 Days Later - A History of Violence - Throw Momma From The Train -Raising Arizona (it gets me every time) - Evil Dead (2 is my fave) - Dawn of the Dead - Pirates of the Caribbean - Midnight Run - Taxi Driver - The Sure Thing - Say Anything - Bad Taste - Braindead - ...and plenty more, what's the point? Zombies, vampires, robots, in particular all get the thumbs up. Comedy is great but I'm picky. I love the Monty Python movies, and Shaun of The Dead, but I'm not into wacky American "how-low-can-we-go" cheeseball movies unless they are done particularly well. I'm not keen on Jim Carey, for example, when he's doing his "look at me I'm so crazy" face. I loved the South Park movie though. That's one of the greatest movies ever made. And I love The Grudge, and not just because Buffy is in it
I love all the Ju-On movies, particularly Ju-On 2: The Grudge. I really love Old Boy at the moment as well. It's a corker.
Peep Show; 24;
The Mighty Boosh; Jam; Brass Eye; The Day Today; Father Ted; Alan Partridge; Farscape; Firefly; Garth Marenghi's Darkplace; Prison Break;
Buffy; Angel; Alias; The Simpsons; Family Guy; My Name Is Earl;
Moonlighting; Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy; Twin Peaks; Spaced; Lost;
etc... although I honestly don't watch as much as I used to! And I watch it on my terms, when I want, not when they want.
The odd book at random. I enjoy reading but I can rarely be arsed. I enjoy Douglas Adams more than anything, especially Dirk Gently.
I love comic books, my favourite is probably Marshal Law in "Fear And Loathing". Damn that's good. Shame the follow-ups were pretty poor though.
I prefer PlayStation games to books, but where's the section for that? There isn't one. Which is criminal. Allow me a session on Resident Evil 4, Metal Gear Solid, Shadow of the Colossus or some Grand Theft Auto and I will be as happy as a pig in shite. These days, gaming can be a sociable affair, and will become even more so in the next few years. I don't play PS2 quite so much as I used to, but when PS3 comes out I am more than likely going to be a hermit for some time, provided I can get a mortgage to pay for one.
You are my only hero.
Apart from perhaps Spider-Man.
Also Solid Snake, PaRappa the Rapper, and Evan Dando, now that I think about it. Oh, OK, Buffy too. Bah, I keep thinking of more... Bruce Campbell... and Jack Bauer... and... Old Gregg.
