Keeps my left hand strong so I can crawl up and down my Telecaster like a spider on crank!

About Me

I grew up in the Midwest as the firstborn son of English immigrants. Yes, it was a tough life, but I survived the hardships to move to Texas to work as an engineer. (Note that I said "work as", not "be"; I'm not defined by my job.) I spend a lot of my time outside of work writing and recording music. I've been playing guitar for more than half of my life and recording music for a third of it now. Check out my band Tritone Paradox for some great, fun music.
One of the best parts of my day job is that it pays for me to go on vacation--I've travelled around a lot of this beautiful planet and still want to see more of it. Overall, I'm a pretty laid back guy who likes to take it easy and enjoy life. I like to laugh and spend plenty of time making silly/witty jokes about things. I don't feel the need to be surrounded by drunk, shouting people to have fun either. There are times for going out and times for staying in. The right person's company is more exciting than any club could hope to be.
By the way, if your friends list is filled with lots of shirtless guys, you might be disappointed--I don't take my shirt off for strangers. I work out regularly, but that's not what I'm about. There's far more to me than that. (For example, I have lots of squishy parts inside my ribcage as well!)
for Tritone Paradox 's "Dance Alone"
Vectra 7 won Track of the Day for "Be My Superman", "Not Afraid", "Medicine" and "Make Out".

My Interests

Making and listening to music would have to go first, but I like movies, good books, art (in many forms), fun, travel, psychology, physics, shiny things, racquetball, a good conversation, architecture, internet animations and many of the odd little thoughts that dash through my head. It's interesting trying to work out where they came from.

I'd like to meet:

Are you... interesting, kind, funny, unpretentious, friendly, able to lift heavy objects with just your mind? Do you... like to hang out, enjoy (listening to and talking about) music, watching TV/movies on occasion, enjoy travel, appreciate art, understand half of what I'm saying?

...then I'd probably like to meet you.

Music:

I like good music. My couple-year-old examples are:

Movies:

A few I've liked recently are Stranger Than Fiction, Painted Veil and Volver. (Guess who's been going to the art house.)

The ones tons of people have on their lists: Pulp Fiction, The Matrix, T2, Happy Gilmore, Austin Powers, Love Actually, Zoolander, Eternal Sunshine..., Mallrats, Chasing Amy and the Harry Potter movies are great too.

Ones fewer people have: James Bond movies, School of Rock, Desperado, Wild Things, Undercover Brother, The Crow, Psycho, The Birds, Vertigo, Help, The Mexican, Josie and the Pussycats, Spinal Tap, Much Ado About Nothing, Equilibrium, Dancer in the Dark and many more. (I often forget the names of foreign films, but I've seen many good ones.)

I most enjoy either laughing or having my head (and sometimes heart) toyed with.

Television:

24, Heroes, House, Mythbusters, Psych, Monk, SVU, Daily Show/Colbert Report, Conan, and Venture Bros. are all great.

The Avengers, Excel Saga, Home Movies, Brak Show and Invader Zim were really great, but they're DVD-based now. Arrested Development gets on that list from what I've started watching too.

Books:

When I can, I'm reading about music, some strange aspect of physics/science/psychology or people meeting unfortunate ends (generally fictional). That and thousands of articles online. Anything that provides any of the above while making me laugh gets bonus points.Current reads: Kathy Reichs, Jared Diamond and Geoff Emerick.

Heroes:

I don't aim to be like anyone else, but I admire people who lead the way in developing new styles, theories, technologies, etc., whether it be in science or art or some other part of life.
