About Me

I'm a successful professional woman who wants to enjoy life. I've been divorced for 5 years and doing o.k. I own my own home on an acre which keeps me busy. I actually like mowing the lawn though so I can't complain. I am an unapologetic tom-boy (although I DO know how to be a girl on occasion). I know what most every tool in your tool box is named and what it's appropriate use is (probably have used it too). I can change my own oil (although I don't enjoy engine work as much as yardwork). Spent 16 years learning how to do 'home improvements', and I'm pretty good with a hammer, paint brush and trowel. Recently finished up some tile work in my bathroom and installed Pergo flooring in the great room. I'm working on the bedrooms now. I love to read, do crossword and logic puzzles (in ink) and garden. I'm a science fiction fan, love scary movies, roller coasters and the Discovery Channel. I like to travel, especially crusing and camping. (I know pretty wide on the spectrum there, but it is the truth). My sister and I took a cruise Hawaii last year for her birthday. It was great! I'd love to do that again soon. My favorite camping sites are up on the North Coast. At home I have 4 cats and 4 dogs. My son and his family came home from Japan in March and are living with me now. I love having my grandson so close. I get to babysit and everything!

My Interests

Science, history, people, critters, live theater, tribute bands, small parties, Disneyland!, team dynamics, gardening, tall bearded Iris, family, good friends, camping, reading, Barbados, Alaska, Sacramento Kings, NASCAR, wine tasting, logic puzzles...this list could go on and on...You will just have to ask.

I'd like to meet:

Friends mostly. I like fun people who are into life! If you have similar interests, lets talk! I was introduced to wine tasting last year and I loved it! I prefer good reds, but still drink the occasional glass of White Zin. As far as famous people go, I'm not much into that sort of thing. Too much ego and not enough 'real' for most of them, it seems to me.

Music:

Alternative, Blues, Gospel, Classic Rock n' Roll, Classical, Country, Hard Rock, Metal, Jazz, Modern Rock n' Roll, New Age, Oldies, Pop/Top 40, Soul/R&B,Motown (Aretha is the Queen!) All time favorite groups/singers/composers: The Moody Blues, Bob Seagar, John, Paul, Ringo and George (in any combination), Pink Floyd, Brooks and Dunn (God they ARE sexy men!), Smokey, Al Green, Chicago, The Temptations (more sexy men!), Shania Twain, Cher (with or without Sonny), Vivaldi, Creed, Eric Clapton, Jo Dee Messina, Savage Garden, Bach, Rod Stewart, Santana, Clint Black, Michael Bolton, R.E.M., Blues Traveler, Motzart, Barry White, 5 for Fighting, 3 Doors Down, Nickleback, The Corrs, Diana Ross, James Taylor (My personal best award for outstanding laid back concert performer...), Toby Keith (another sexy man!), Jewel, Phil Vassar, Everly Brothers, Beach Boys, Les Paul, Billie Holliday, Enya. Favorite song at the moment - Truly, Madly, Deeply - Savage Garden.

Movies:

B-grade horror flicks - Night of the Living Dead rocks! Classics like Dark Victory. Sweet, sappy comedies like While You Were Sleeping. Action and Adventure. Anything with Harrison Ford, Rob Lowe, Sandra Bullock or Mel Gibson. Science Fiction and Fantasy. Dramas if they are good. Favorite chick-flick - Kate and Leopold - Directors cut. Ah, if only life worked that way!

Television:

CSI, Discovery, Biography, Everwood, The Science Channel, The Food Network. Closet Iron Chef fan. Emeril is always fun, cheesy sometimes but fun. Good Eats! is a great show - not too stuffy, not too silly. TLC - Trading Spaces is hard to beat - Frank - you are my idol, even if you do put chicken pics in the kitchen! Hilde - stay away! I can proudly say that I have never seen an episode of Who Wants to Marry A/My (insert the appropriate noun here) and don't plan to in this lifetime...

Books:

Anything with print in it or on it! Everything from encyclopedias to cereal boxes! Science Fiction, Classics, Biographies, History, Philosophy, Horror, hmmmm - make you think books, even the occasional romance novel (but only the historical kind). Favorite authors: Sagan, Christie, King, McCammon, Cook, Koontz, Colin Powel, Michner, Dickens, Cooper, Uris, Clarke, Twain, Homer, Whitman, Rowling.

Heroes:

MLK, JFK, Jimmy Carter, Kathy DeVilbiss (best boss I ever had!), Bill Cosby, The Village People (any group of grown men who act THAT silly in public deserve to be admired!), Earl Warren, Clint Eastwood, Joan of Arc, Cher, Tina Turner (tough lady, great legs!), Goldie Hawn, Arnold (strangely enough he is doing a pretty good job in his new role...)
