Peace on Earth...really, is it too much to ask?? **Obama~~Matthews** *******2012*******"Old School"I LOVE dMb!! A daily dose is necessary for my heart, soul and sanity.I miss LeRoi... "The Last Stop"Ok, so I love dMb. Also, I love to read, and I read constantly. During the day, I read with my students, and I cannot fall asleep without a few chapters from the book of the week. I read so much that I have to buy books at Goodwill, yard sales or flea markets, otherwise, I would be broke. Wait a minute...I am broke!! Why not use the library, you might wonder? Well, I like to keep the books I read. I have a lot of floor to ceiling bookshelves. I hate to admit it, because I don't even understand this obsession, but I love Vintage Barbies, especially the MOD-70's era dolls. I can't explain it. I just love Barbie.I take in homeless animals whenever I can. If they come to me, they stay...it's that simple. Currently, I provide a loving home for 2 dogs and 4 cats. They all came to me for a reason. One of my cats, "Lucky" showed up on my picnic table with a gunshot wound while I was at work one day. I have a vet-friend who removed the injured leg and neutered him for free because I was willing to give him a home. He is the best cat ever. He has never ventured beyond the fenced part of our property since he showed up. My Min Pin, I found on the side of the road in a box that read "Please help me." In the box was a bowl of food, a bowl of water and a blanket. He had escaped the confines of the box, and it took us 3 hours to coax him out of the woods. I would have stayed there all night if necessary. I live in a rural area, and I didn't want him to become coyote food. He finally gave in, and he is a great little dog...Maximus Dogimus or "Max". Also, I love hummingbirds. It seems like the same families come back every year. They consume about 4 quarts of sugar-water every 2 days. If I slack on the food, they swoop at me. They trust me so, and the cats never bother them. They have a very peaceful relationship. The cats enjoy watching them, but to my knowledge they have never killed one.Other interests include traditional black and white photography and working in a darkroom, though I don't get to do it so much anymore. Also, I love to watch dancers dance, and I don't mean "Dancing with the Stars." I love classical ballet and the choreography of Martha Graham, Paul Taylor, Alvin Ailey and Twyla Tharpe. Martha Graham My soul craves peace and quiet. I treasure my time alone. I love to daydream, and I loathe cell phones. The only thing I dislike more than cell phones is war...I just don't get it. No matter how I try to wrap my brain around it, it just doesn't make sense. Nothing justifies war. That's just my opinion. On a lighter note, I love yard sales, flea markets and second-hand stores. These are great places to find old cameras, Barbies, books and stuff for 25 cents.Peace, my friends.
Dave Matthews, Patti Smith, Kevin Spacey, Flea, Anthony Kedis, Oprah's Dr. Oz (maybe even Oprah), David Letterman, Ellen DeGeneres, Johnny Depp and Jeremy Piven. Some COOL people I have met include: author Tom Robbins, Mary-Louise Parker (she attended NCSA), Nick Searcy (ditto), Scott Plank and Gordon Owens (ditto, ditto), John Mellencamp (I took his passport photo), John Doe, River Phoenix, Nicole Fosse, Gwen Verdon, and I had a beer with the Bangles.
Did I mention I LOVE dMb?? Well, of course I did!!I need a dose of dMb everyday, but I especially love them live. Also, I very much enjoy Dave and Tim together, and thanks to my awesome hubby, who stood in line for 4 hours, I had the privilege of attending the "Change Rocks" gig paid for by Barack Obama in Bloomington, Indiana. A total of 12,000 lucky fans saw this show at a cost of $63,000. Thank you, Mr. Obama. By the way, you had my vote in the Indiana Primary, and still do. CHANGE ROCKS!!The only thing better than a Dave and Tim show is a FREE Dave and Tim show!! Yeah, Baby!!

Also, every American should watch Super-Size Me and Fahrenheit 9/11.
With the exception of BONES, HOUSE, DEXTER, Criminal Minds, The Simpsons, and Family Guy, I've decided TV produces the same effect as Ambien~~double-vision followed by a deep dreamless sleep on the couch. It makes me long for the days when TV actually went off the air...remember those days?? I know some kids who can't even sleep without the TV squawking and flashing all night...sad, indeed. However small my part, if a child is with me during my five hours of teaching time a day, it is with an open book in their hands.
