Monokay

Touched by the power of a singers voice at a young age, Jurith Schols was inspired to become a singer herself. Growing up in Dordrecht (The Netherlands), with psychedelic music of the 70's, such as Pink Floyd and Genesis, she was later inspired by Joni Mitchell and Eva Cassidy. After having played in different bands as a teenager, she then began to develop her own songwriting skills, until she was ready to put together her own band. Monokay, as she calls her band, was formed in 2003 and was quickly discovered by enthusiastic people who praised her for her strong and sensitive songwriting and her clear and serene voice. After recording her first ep and performing her songs in The Netherlands, Monokay ventured into foreign waters with a tour in Belgium as well as Germany, returning to the latter for a second tour just three months later. In January 2006 a videoclip was made in Barcelona (Spain) and got played on MTV Holland. Currently, Jurith is busy working on new songs for her upcoming full lenght debutalbum. This album is due to be released in 2008.
