I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I really wish I could raise one eyebrow but I can't. Dang.

My Interests

Mexicans, guns, bad habits, sad cowboy songs (and shirts), posh Chinese restaurants, nurturing hope, grunge revivalists, owning too many video game consoles (the current number stands at five), drowsy Sundays, tea, occasional hedonism, starting more books than I finish, shuddering at the words 'pension' and 'mortgage', obsessively browsing the archives at YouTube, clean underwear, Bombay Sapphire, random mix tapes, thinking about short stories but not actually writing them, turning down the Freemasons, flawed people with good intentions (of which I am one) mismanaging my finances, death metal, startling coincidences, the perfect pint of Guiness, busting the ghosts of the past, random adventures, taming the universe, repeatedly losing my cash card, using journalism as an excuse to blag everything, hating The Kooks and avoiding psychic vampires. Those fuckers are everywhere.

Music:

Rodrigo y Gabriella, Kyuss, Hank Williams, Boards Of Canada, Gallows, Slayer, Johnny Cash, Feist, Pixies, The Go! Team, Ozma, Weezer, Veruca Salt, Kaki King, DJ Shadow, The Inkspots, Morbid Angel, Link Wray, Hot Chip, Cannibal Corpse, Slo Burn, Queens Of The Stone Age, Daft Punk, Iron Monkey, Belle and Sebastian, Kraftwerk, The Beta Band, Grandaddy, Helmet, Ramones, Tortoise, Slint, Black Sabbath, Autechre, Public Enemy, The Wolfe Tones, Pavement, Buzzcocks, Elvis, My Morning Jacket, Lightning Bolt, anything off the Katamari soundtracks, Mice Parade, The Johnny Burnette Trio, Vince Taylor and His Playboys, Little Richard, Cats On Mars, twangy 60s surf rock, Tom Waits, Calexico, and lots of other bands that make me look cool if I list them.

Movies:

Aliens, Tampopo, Bubba Ho-Tep, Napoleon Dynamite, Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, Festen, Dawn Of The Dead, Starship Troopers and anything by The Coen Brothers as even their shit films are good.

Shaking Hands With The Employed

I believe it was Steven Patrick Morrissey who said, and I quote, "I was looking for a job and then I found a job." He sang about being a woofter as well, but that's not important right now! What...

Strip Strip Hooray

"It felt so bizarre to be standing onstage nearly naked, seeing as I'd always been the kind of girl who fucked in the dark. There was a Jiffy Pop smattering of tepid applause, and I scurried off the ...

It's the new Weezer song! The use of an exclamation mark denotes optimism on my part, as I've listened to it several times now and...could it be? Yes it could! It's a return to the Blue album-era soun...

This week’s Quote Of The Week comes courtesy of Mixmaster Miles, who dropped some wisdom on me at about 1am on Oxford Street this morning after I admitted I wasn’t sure if I wanted t...
