I am here for Friends

About Me

You know that movie Brazil, when they are all eating piles of gross food in that expensive restaurant, and the mom just had plastic surgery and there is a terrorist attack and everyone pretends not to notice? that's my childhood in a nutshell. Also, my life goals include liberating myself from all inhibitions (easier said than done my friend!) and opting out of the consumer ideal, one day at a time. Also I really, really, really like peaches. And I just moved to Belgrade.

My Interests

DANCING, night buses, my spirit monster, clearing the dance floor, war criminals and pop stars (and their weddings), keeping food in my purse, not sitting still, communal living, thinking of a better answer to "why did you learn serbian," adventure, poorly taxidermized animals playing instruments and/or poker, ice pick lobotomies, phonemic spelling, Jam every other day, narrowly averting balkan traffic mishaps, pretending I can spell when I teach business men english, what communism did for cars, buildings, and fabric softener, avoiding animals with hands, and reading spectrograms for old times sake (esp. glottalization and nasal vowel- non-nasal stop sequences where the nasal has been deleted.)

I'd like to meet:

weirdos, junkies and fags; someone to help me make my life into the movie "daisies," my serbian soul mate of dance, and:

Music:

Talking Heads, Smiths, CAN, Half Japanese, Idoli, Meat Puppets, Les Savy Fav, Erase Errata, Arab on Radar, Hot Snakes, Pulp, the magnetic fields, of montreal, radio rap, and bon jovi celine dion and 50 cent but not all his songs.

Movies:

showgirls, because it is an inspirational rags to riches tale of a young lady who climbs to the top of the cut throat world of topless dancing (esp. the VH1 version, because there are no boobs;) Happiness, and:

Television:

strangers with candy, :

Books:

You've got flies in your eyes. That's probably why you can't see them.

Heroes:

A: HELLO! I WORE THIS SHIRT SO I WOULDN'T GET RUN OVER! B: Do you know how to ride a bicycle?

My Blog

Dance to Globalization!

Someone in Serbia once asked me "where the hell did you learn to Kolo?" The answer, of course, was in Berkeley, California and Pittsburgh, PA. Last night I took a salsa lesson in Belgrade. Maybe n...
