Shanghai Thrills

It feels good to laugh again

About Me

Shanghai Thrills is a three piece rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. Andrew Sgro (vocals/guitar) founded the band with Dave Trombley (bass) and Tim Carleton (drums) in the summer of 2007 as a side project to their powerpop band. Shanghai Thrills' genre-bending alternative rock has already created a major buzz in Boston and, with the help of Sidehatch Entertainment, the band is on the National GET OUT! Tour beginning October 10th and running through the fall.

The results of Shanghai Thrills first tour have already been staggering. The band has already opened a sold out Paradise Rock Club and played Boston's Axis, Paradise, and Avalon as well as New York's CBGB's, Arlene's Grocery, The Gothic Theater in Denver, Studio A in Miami, The Mission in Augusta, The Viper Room in L.A. and Seattle's Showbox. Polished and energetic, their live performance draws comparisons to such bands as the Foo Fighters, Spoon, Nirvana, and Toadies. During the summer of 2007, the boys earned a slot on the Vans Warped Tour, headlining a stage at the Tweeter Center show.
Upon returning to Boston, Shanghai Thrills will be playing a handful of college shows in the Northeast and will begin tracking their debut record with producer Scott Riebling (Fallout Boy/Gym Class Heroes/Cobra Starship/The Academy Is/We The Kings). They plan to release an EP ready by the end of the year.
