Im into expanding my personal lexicon, among additional intellectual frontiers, in order to gain academic pedegogical acceptance in the undergrauate front. Or rather, I'd like to teach.
Now? No one in particular. Later? People who want to take on Chicago w/ me!Oh, and this hairy dude:.. width="425" height="350" ..
Some people I now love turned me on to Wilco; which is the reason I love them. Where would we be without wishful thinking? I went to see Coldplay on Sept 21 at 7:30pm at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Kansas. I like Radiohead, Rufus Wainright, Amos Lee (cause of mike), and all the rediculously-ghetto rap i can get my hands on. U2 is coming back as a big favorite; they come back in waves and im currently in the middle of a wave. As i scroll down my iTunes, i see a little Beck, the Decemberists, Citizen Cope, Aimee Mann, got a little Motown on there, Franz Ferdinand, how can u not like Willie (Nelson, dont get any false impressions now), Elton John and others. But nobody ever takes me to see these guys! New Stuff: Uncle Tupelo (buy their Anthology). But I have good sources. . . and when sources coincide on a particular band then the intel is reliable.
My friends will tell you that Magnolia is #1 on my list. It helps to be thoughtful when watching this movie. . . It (that is the death and pain in the movie) is all connected w/ and suffers its fate in that of Big Earl Partridge. Tell me thats not a fine theological and theatrical work of art! Also recommended (though not in this order):Munich (best movie of 2006) Crash Cool Hand Luke About a Boy Spanglish Hard Eight Punch Drunk Love Anything w/ Phillip Seymore Hoffman (you gotta respect and actor who can't rely on good looks to get famous) Office Space Snatch Fiddler on the Roof My Fair Lady (only when performed by actual british people) Sexy Beast (no, its not a porno) The Hunt for Red October The Godfather I and II The Shining there are others. . .AND OF COURSE: All Star Wars movies (though you'll never find one iota of star wars memorabilia in my possession; except for the movies themselves)
I really dig House and the local/national/world news.
Elie Wiesel's "Night" JD Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye" I have an intimidatingly large book called "The Brother's Karamazov" by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I dont really want to read it until I can read it uninterrupted by other books. Various and assorted philosophy and theology books."The way to solve the problem you see in life is to live in a way that will make what is problematic disappear." - Ludwig Wittgenstein
They've always been cowboys and Mexican immigrants; hard workers all of them.
