About Me

Yesan Damen began in late 2004 as a solo acoustic project, and ultimately evolved into an ever-changing cast of friends with eclectic musical tastes and stylistic inclinations.

Some nice words about the Never Beginning Story:
"Beautiful Beach Boys harmony in support of sheets of Luna-esque broody pop is the feel here." - Foxy Digitalis
"Catchy rhythmic acoustic guitar and pop classics collide here to forge an indie pop album that’s emotional, stirring, and wildly exciting all at once." - Smother Magazine
"The Never Beginning Story is an album full of the indie pop delectability that is so rare to come by, or to stop listening to." - Under the Radar
"To say that Yesan Damen’s The Never Beginning Story has a myriad of emotions attached to each song would be an understatement, but listeners would do well to explore all of the tracks and see if [Yesan] Damen’s reactions gel with theirs." - TheCelebrityCafe.com
"The group Yesan Damen borrows from past and present to forge their uniquely melancholy sound. It's a nice mix of styles, and it works well with their introspective lyrics, which seem to focus mainly on spiritual themes." - Mish Mash Music
"If you can imagine a sound which has some of the laid back melancholia of Pedro The Lion, a little of the feather light craft of Belle And Sebastian and a whole heap of ambient pop touches you'll be close to imagining Yesan Damen's sound. Mr Kwak, producer Zak Dewey and the folk at new label New Wine are to be congratulated on delivering such a haunting and inventive debut album." - Crossrhythms UK
Some nice words about Chronos/Kairos:
"Yesan Damen have released an album that, when all other comers have presented their works, is likely to stand as one of the better releases of 2008. Gorgeous and grounded, the album presents a slightly more colorful and interesting view of real life that should resonate with listeners." 8/10 - PopMatters
"...intricate production and catchy little hooks that would make Brian Wilson proud." -Mish-Mash
"Yesan Damen's Chronos/Kairos is a beautiful brief burst of well-crafted, sugary pop pleasure..." -Left Hip
"Chronos/Kairos shows that Yesan Damen are capable of crafting pleasing indie-pop with elegant orchestrations and an assured confidence..." -Delusions of Adequacy
"...each song has the ability to crack a smile on the listener’s face, even if it’s the dreariest of days." -Fensepost
"With choral backups and a blanket of underwater sound, the album is a warmly endearing ten songs that makes me hail further to what the indies have under their sleeves." -Reax
"The time has come to be selective about your indie-pop. There's just too damn much of it these days. If you're looking for something that sounds pretty, something that will make you smile, dance in your seat and sing along then try out Yesan Damen" -75 or Less
"Their music on 'Chronos/Kairos' builds on a foundation of classic indie bands but blends those influences to create something truly contemporary and cutting edge." -Cross Rhythms (UK)
"Those who think back fondly on long gone bands like Masters of the Hemisphere, Beulah or the roster of now defunct label March Records can take heart in the wispy pop wonderment of new Seattle indie-pop combo Yesan Damen’s sophomore album, Chronos/Kairos." -Reveille
"With its complex arrangement, the album's highlight, 'Osaka,' is easily one of the best songs of the year -- maybe even the best song, lest Brian Wilson come out of hiding." -Redefine
"...their songs all have that pop element also but they also invest it with enough personality and quirkiness to make sure that is not just throw away pop music." -Pennyblack Music (UK)
"...catchy from start to finish..." -5Acts
"...multi-layered pop songs that make you smile and dance and swoon and generally feel all sunny inside." -The Spill
