Gnome is Spike Mason and Hugh Wilson. Formed in the mid 90's in a series of afternoon recording sessions in a run down studio surrounded by trees a wood porch. In the heat of the Australian summer the jazz saxophonist and pop vocalist wrote a collection of instrumental music for a documentary about Vietnam.
After which they transitioned into recording an album. They manufactured a very small CD run and sold them all at a music conference in Cooma, in Australia's "Snowy Mountains".
But then both Spike and Hugh got caught up in that fun little thing called life. Hugh went on walkabout. Through Europe. They reunited in Singapore, and while teaching music to beautiful Chinese people, worked some more. Hugh then went to New York City, and Spike went back to Sydney.
So then they swapped files on the internet. Until Hugh went back to Sydney in 2005 and some more tracks were recorded.
So now there are two albums recorded. But no record company or management. So Hugh is going to put these albums on CDbaby and itunes later this year. It will be really good. Then people can hear the music instead of just wanting to hear the music.
Spike and Hugh really love this music. They feel it reflects key aspects of their personality.
