What is a Prophetic Psalmist?
A prophetic psalmist is a sculptor who uses air as their medium instead of clay, metal, or stone. Music is their tool instead of a hammer and chisel. They "sculpts" the air into an "atmosphere" that directly corresponds to the moving of the Holy Spirit. The psalmist is much more than simply a song leader, music director, or worship leader. Their assignment and goal varies between two options. Sometimes they may "hear" a specific musical sound with their spirit and he must duplicate this sound. The Holy Spirit may desire an atmosphere conducive to healing, deliverance from demonic oppression, freeing from emotional negativism, or any of a number of other activities, and they may well go from one to another in any given situation. The psalmist must be sensitive to the moving of the Holy Spirit and act accordingly.
The second option that the psalmist may encounter is a situation in which he may not hear specific sounds, but they may instead sense the mood and intent of the Holy Spirit and sculpt an atmosphere, using music, that is conducive to what the Holy Spirit wants to do. For example, if the Holy Spirit is in a mood that suggests warmth and intimacy, that is not the time to kick off a rousing praise song. If the Holy Spirit is in a spiritual warfare mode, it's not the time for music that suggests pomp and pageantry.
Therefore, I am a prophetic psalmists, I will do my best to maintain my sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and act accordingly by sculpting the atmosphere with the appropriate music. It will usually involve singing familiar songs, but it goes far beyond that. Unfortunately, that's where most worship leaders stop. It also usually involves the "ode pneumatikos," which is translated into English as "spiritual song." It literally means an unrehearsed, spontaneous song sung by the believer enabled by the Spirit of God. The song may be in a familiar language or it may be in a language that the singer neither knows nor understands. As an expression of the Spirit, it may even be one that has no words at all, but may be simply what I call a musical groaning. Sometimes this will be nothing more than a melodic "ah," but when it's inspired by the Holy Spirit, it's extremely powerful.
There are also those times when the Holy Spirit directs the psalmist to sculpt the atmosphere using only the instruments while those present remain silent before the Lord.
We will also use a tool that is widely unknown in the modern Church, and that is silence. There are those times when the Holy Spirit is active and moving, and music would be a hindrance and a distraction. During these times, we will go completely silent and wait, allowing the Holy Spirit to work as He wills.
The reason silence is so uncommon in our churches is because the same entertainment spirit that is prevalent in the world is also firmly entrenched in our churches. This spirit convinces us that during our meetings someone must be doing or saying something at all times lest we lose the attention of the people. Personally, I think the problem is that the attention of the people has too long been focused on someone other than God, and now when He demands our undivided attention the silence makes many people uncomfortable. Nevertheless, there are those who are willing and even anxious to experience the manifest presence of God and to hear that still, small voice, and we endeavor to give them that opportunity in a corporate setting. Moreover, we wish to give these people the opportunity to share what they have seen, felt, or heard. This is also very uncommon in our churches.
Ministry has long been the domain of the "clergy," and this is a mistake. As prophetic psalmists, our mission involves creating a climate in which everyone is free to receive and to give, which is why we favor small gatherings over large ones. In large meetings, our function is modified somewhat. As always, we endeavor to lead people into the very presence of the almighty God and under the "shadow of His wing." In this place, God speaks to each person individually, and He will give a few people messages for the entire assembly.
We firmly believe that God is calling every worship leader, music director, and singer to be a prophetic psalmist and every instrumentalist to be a prophetic minstrel and prophesy with their instrument. History shows that each generation of believers takes only one step forward with the Holy Spirit in many areas, including worship. The present generation has already taken it by replacing old, worn-out musical styles with fresh, new songs and instruments. Let this be the first generation that takes the next step in following the moving of the Holy Spirit into a realm of worship that goes far beyond the mere singing of familiar songs and choruses. God is at this time raising up prophetic psalmists and minstrels for this very purpose. History also proves that there are many who refuse to leave the comfort of the familiar. There are those few, however, who realize that the power of God and His presence is never found in our comfort zone, and they are always ready to walk into exciting and unfamiliar territory. For these few, the journey has already begun. We want to invite you to be one of those few and go with us.Peace,Melone Cook is a prophetic psalmist who is enjoying what she was born to do. God has used her angelic voice to touch, and even heal, many lives. For 11 years I have dedicated my service to Leading the Praise and Worship ministry, at Crusade Dominion Church Conyers, GA. My committment In the things of God has totally propelled my life to prophetically flow in the gifts of song and dance. She oversees and covers all the areas of dance, music, singing, and Drama. I love to mentor and train leaders and instructors on every level. It is so importantant to know the biblical truth of a Apostolic/ Prophetic music, dance, drama team ministry. It is so important to identify the different dynamic a dance, singing, music, and drama ministry has to offer to the body of Christ. I am so blessed to have a awesome hubby, who is the witness to this awesome journey that God is taking me on in my life. We partner in business, spreading the Apostolic missions of team marketplace ministry, at an international level. God has giving us together an anointing to get wealth and command it to come. This has given me and my husband the ability to help many individuals to become very successful in the China import industry. I always pray to have the father's heart to see the Saints released into their full inheritance. I have had the oppurtunity to minister in many places as a prophetic speaker. I really feel that God has giving me the anointing to expose the walls of false, and activate the pursuit of truth. This is accomplished through God opening the doors, and using my singing as a platform, wherever God sends me. My goal is to be a voice for the Lord and not an echo!
Me and my Hubby will be celebrating 10yrs of marriage 10/12/2007 live in Conyers, GA with their 4 beautiful children: Gregory Jr, Joshua, Caleb, and Heaven.
