myspace.com/mafftestmusicIn a time where fashion and music ruled having its normal enormous effect on society, hip hop was reaching an all time low when rapper MAFF TEST decided to take music seriously for the first time."I always had a way with words, a unique harsh delivery and large amount of common sense that came across with ease when expressed lyrically," states TEST. Although this rhyming thing was something TEST did in his leisure time, it was his friends and family who highly recommended and insisted he consider taking it seriously as a career after observing his capability to create not only a verse here and there but complete hit records while putting forth little effort.Well, the problem wasn't that TEST didn't want to take the advice and pursue music as a career - it was his struggle with the transition from the streets to the industry. He started out just hustling to survive and get a few extras he would never be able to purchase working a 9 to 5. Before he knew it he was addicted to the fast life, besides the fact it provided not only for himself but his family as well. He felt that rapping wasn't paying at the time so it would be senseless to just stop and rely on it to provide for him.A hustler before anything, soon enough he began investing into his music career from time to time while working on alternative forms of income. It was 2003 when Lockout Recording Studios was established, and after undergoing several names this was the one that would stick. He began recording his own music when he had the extra time. He would later rent the studio out to local and national artist at an hourly rate to subsidies as an additional legitimized income, "its just buisness," states TEST. Real estate and trades would follow while continuously working on his craft. With the hottest producer man can find by his side and the flow of the century, it was only a matter of time before the industry would be in danger.MAFF TEST, Born (Jason D. Frazier) on September 20, 1984 endured a disturbed child hood before experiencing any success. When interviewed, TEST only provided the brief details of being neglected at an early age by his mother who had an addiction, she was in and out of his life and if his grandmother didn't take him in, the state would have. TEST felt as if his father was there from time to time but he often strayed as if he dreaded the responsibility. Raised in a religious bound - low income household, TEST would often stick to himself in deep thoughts of making it out of his current living situation. When asked the details of where he was from, he simply stated "Harvey, Illinois" and then told reporters to do their own research and be the judge. Reporters found Harvey to be a poverty stricken suburban city of 3 or 4 projects, corrupted law enforcement, gang and drug pollution etc.Later in life his street pals would nick name him YOUNG HARVEY as the first to represent their city, "putting it on the map". With this brief speech on the childhood of TEST, we were told by his management that his fans would probably be the first to find out the more detailed story on his childhood because there often expressed through his songs. With the industry full of disloyalty and exploiting of rappers, TEST was determined to put himself in a position where he wouldn't have to depend on any record labels to assist him with an advance (funds received to record and promote his albums and mix tapes). This is where Lockout Records came into play. "The most they could offer me is distribution, any other deals would be a last resort or at my discretion," states TEST.With very few influences in his life, TEST had no problems staying focused and looked to himself for inspiration; not wanting to live how he grew up. MAFF TEST has since conquered many goals and has lost many associates who only slowed him down with mediocrity. In the highly anticipated album, "Fail or Succeed", TEST displays the characteristics of a "TRUE RAP HEAVYWEIGHT". Critics say his skills are beyond equivalent to a lot of today's acts due to the fact he is a true lyricist delivering incredible narration of street/night life. He combines pain and struggle through clever metaphors fueled by raw energy and confidence. With all the things going on in the world many things are uncertain, but one thing is for sure, the industry is desperately in need of the fresh breath of air this young talented ex-hustler has to offer, so stay tuned.....
