As far as academics, Public Affairs, Policy, Politics, Health Issues, Race Issues, Religion Issues, any good book that is about either of these topics...or a GREAT escape from ALL THIS CRAZY DEPRESSING REALITY! I like chilling with my awesome and scattered about the 5 boroughs friends. The Subway is my limo fleet...Big ups to the Bronx crew and my Brooklyn fam. Writing is fun...but lately not as fun as it used to be. Old school video games, movies, trying to learn how to play electric guitar...LOL can u tell it isn't going to well? Lessons here I come! Baseball, Lets go Mets! And I guess a semi-interest in comics...since I do empathize with the struggle. Anything else....um oh yeah I like to get drunk alot...but like writing...it too isn't as fun as it used to be. Stay tuned...
People who are worth my loyalty love and trust. (There aren't many.) "Its better to be PISSED OFF than PISSED ON."
..
In Flames, Metallica, System of a Down, Ill Nino, All that Remains, Shadowsfall, As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, God Forbid, Children of Bodem, Cradle of Filth, occasional Avenged Sevenfold, Flaw, Smile Empty Soul, (Do I still list Linkin Park....? The answer is No. But once upon a time... Ugh....nostalgia....Um lots more also like some weird video game (Xenogears and the Suikodens and Final Fantasies){U know when they are pluralized like that they look kind of pornographic...haha cool!} Movie soundtracks, occasional pieces of techno and even a REALLY occasional piece of industrial....depends on my mood. Mostly my fav genre would be melodic metal....but I'm an eclectic kind of guy. (Which means there is all sort of crap that I like that I prolly will admit to you personally...just not publically. ;)
The Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting, ("I gotta go see about a girl...")The Matrix Trilogy, Meet Joe Black, American Psycho, Love Actually, Gladiator, Braveheart, The Incredibles, The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, Glory, The Notebook, (Hahaha man that sucks don't it?!! Your still a man if you cry after watching the Notebook....really...I'm serious...) Batman Begins, Gattaca, I Heart Huckabees, wayyy too many to name so I'll stop here it gives u a decent feel.
Heroes!!!! I was a skeptic...but I am now a believer. Hooked. I just work too much to see it on time....so noone spoil it for me. My old favorite show Angel got cancelled.... Thats why I READ...its fundamental! Chapelle Show when IT WAS STILL ON was great....get your head back on straight Dave cmon...I need to laugh again. Don't watch Angel anymore...its too damn depressing....Law and Order and CSI are ok...but blah CSI: Witchita Kansas and Law and Order: K-9 Unit I really don't need. Enough is Enough. Read a book!
The General in his Labrynth, Dr. Neruda's Cure for Evil, American Gods, 100 Years of Solitude, The Naked Soul of Iceberg Slim, Down these Mean Streets, Axis of Hope by Tariq Ali, (Awesome book about the neo-socialist movement in Latin America, Chavez and Morales following in Bolivar's and Castro's revolutionary anti-Washington Concensus footsteps) The Lord of the Rings, Pigs at the Trough, Blindness, When Corporations Rule the World, His Dark Materials, The Bartimaeus Trilogy, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, The Kite Runner, The Devil in the White City (Bonus Question!!! Favorite book as a kid???? Answer: Jeremy Thatcher; Dragon Hatcher!) There WILL be a quiz at the end of the course.) many many more....
I suppose Simon Bolivar, paranthetically an ATHEIST, for all you Jesus freaks out there who think you just HAVE to have faith in God to be a Revolutionary! He liberated all those mofos who to this day speak the language and worship the God of their occupiers and oppressors. Martin Luther King Jr, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ghandi, Stephen Hawking and of course my most recent hero Black Bart Roberts! Everybody says Che Guevara now...and he WAS the man...but you know what he's just too easy cause he went out a martyr and fighting the good fight to the bitter end. (Even if he did just get a little too fairy tale adventurous with the excursion in Bolivia that eventually got him killed. Pragmatism is as important to any hero as bravery and virtue and its a lesson even I learned the hard way.) I'll be the eternal rebel and go with the darker option in Castro. Why? Because you know he started out with such great intentions. He had a dream and he achieved it...but absolute power corrupts absolutely, even a noble dream. What can I say? I have always been a sucker for heroic tragedy. Anybody who fights and dies for what they believe in is a hero in my book. Thats certainly how I wanna go."Love is freely giving someone the ability to destroy you...and trusting them not to." (They do anyway though. Eventually.)"So this is how Liberty dies...by thunderous applause." (Yes...the one decent piece of dialogue in ANY of those six movies. Ooooooh lightsabers shiiinnnyyyy flassshhhyyyy grumpy dark young anti-hero with mommy issues goes evil in the name of love...? And yeah I actually liked that movie... Gee I wonder why? lol)
