And She Was

About Me

I like to be green but I hate flourescent lighting. I like to wear green but I own more blue. I admire green plants but am generally lethal to them if they are under my care.
I dream about the future and enjoy today at the same time. But I cannot juggle, which is why I will never be a medical doctor. I can kick a ball but I cannot throw, which is why I'm not a softball player. Actually any game involving smallish balls is not so Monique-ish, but I'll try...things like golf, pool, racketball, tennis, pinball, foosball, hackeysack - all of this is fun, but at it I suck. I'm reinventing myself as a soccer player. Now that's a ball I can handle.
I think open-mindedness is very attractive, much more so than wishy-washiness. I think that nothing can quite compare to the fresh-laundry smell one enjoys while traveling in certain latin american countries. How do they make it so nice!?
There's something to be said for the color orange. I miss the crayons that got ex-communicated from the crayola box - burnt sienna, for example. Where did burnt sienna go? It's a shame.
For fun i'm into good coffee, clean sheets, champagne with popcorn, people-watching in general, but especially at places where special costumes are required - a nordic ski area, for example, or perhaps at a cheese factory or a military academy. I like the rhyming game, geeking out at a bookstore, snowboarding, great conversation, enjoying nature, and eating Hatch green chile.
I have a big crush on British Columbia...well, on Canada in general. Next trip will be Iceland. Travel's in my blood, as is napping and reading in the sun. I'm lazy but active too. Balance, you know. I like coffee and wine. Not in the same glass.
I like to laugh.

My Blog

I'm in Alaska until sometime in August....!

Like a metronome, my days are filled with a steady cadence of time marching from one thing to the other. WHAT we're seeing and doing - and where the time is marching - tends to alternate between massi...

Everything I Wear Is From The GAP KIDS

Damn, I love being not-so-tall.  When people ask and I say, "yeah, I'm 4-10" what I DON'T say is, "I'm 4-10-and-a-half." Even though it's true.  Because if I DID, the typical response I hea...

A Friend on Fire!

Friends are good. Friends on fire can be exciting. Right now, it's just the kindling phase. But who knows?  Time will tell. A small challenge: when you have friends who just aren't fiery, but the...

Packratting the Past

I've got a nice storage unit on the west side of Queen Anne hill. Most of my books, a few disassembled IKEA bookshelves & my futon are living a happy existence there, all nestled tightly into a 5x...

You Wouldn't Believe It If I Didn't Have a Picture To Verify...

First of all: the pasta sauce I concoted tonight is THE BOMB. You WISH you were here to devour the succulent, decadent, entirely HEALTHY fusion of flavor.  With me. At the Cozy Mountain Cond...

I never see the spiders, but...

Can it be that there are arachnids living a low-profile life in my cozy mountain condo? Or is it simply that I don't dust the fireplace facade (which is made of jagged-edged rock) often enough to keep...

High-def, low-res

This year I vow (c'mon, it's resolution time!) to find a way to create a high-definition existence wherever I am. I'm not going to be all analog about life, single-tracking myself to death. I'm going ...

Technicolor Headache!

When you get a headache that actually gives you visual entertainment, you know you've reached the pinnacle of mismanagement of your cerebral health. I had an optical migrane. Good times!

Banana Update

I finally did something about my overstocked, banana-heavy freezer. I made cookies. I sort of fudged the recipe, adapting my longstanding favorite PUMPKIN COOKIE recipe (ohh, so yummy) to accommodate...
