About Me
I am a dancer in every fiber of my being. It is the fire in my soul. I knew it was my path in life since I was 4 years old.... There is nothing else I ever wanted to do or be. And I am blessed to be able to make my living doing only that which I love, performing and teaching flamenco dance. For me, dance is life. It is my great passion, my expression of everything that I am. When I'm not dancing flamenco, I'm taking ballet class, when I'm not dancing ballet I'm dancing salsa. It's not that I don't do other stuff!!! I just choose to mostly dance!!! I love big, fuzzy, goofy dogs, even though I don't have one. I love affectionate cats, even though I don't have one. I don't mind the wind, and the rain and the cold, besides the nice warm, sunny days. I like the variety and it just is what IS!! Like the earth's emotions. I don't drink, smoke, take drugs or eat meat. I am very playful and enthusiastic about life, and I love to make people laugh!!..........I teach out of my dance studio FLAMENCO DANZARTE in Belltown in downtown Seattle...........................I have studied classical ballet since I was 5 years old and always wanted to dance ballet professionally, but it wasn't meant to be, and thank God, because flamenco is really my calling and much more suited to my personality............I studied flamenco in San Francisco with Rosa Montoya, in Madrid with Ciro, La Tati, Merche Esmeralda, El Guito, Carmen Cortes, Manolete, Carmela Greco, Jose Antonio, Josele, Timo Lozano, also learning the folkdance Jota with Pedro Azorin. In Sevilla I studied flamenco with Jose Galvan, Juana Amaya, Angelita Vargas, Manolo Valdivia Herrera. I performed in San Francisco with Rosa Montoya Bailes Flamencos, and at the famous tablao The Spaghetti Factory. At one point I left everything and everyone and moved to Madrid, making that my home base and danced in Ballet Espanol groups for six years, dancing flamenco, jota and classical spanish dance, touring in Europe, the U.S., and in Madrid itself. I danced with Joaquin Ruiz, El Camborio, Fernando Romero, I even danced in the Swiss National Circus, the Circus Knie!! Later I moved back to the states, worked in Mexico doing Cuadro Flamenco in a tablao, and then came up to Seattle where I have matured artistically doing cuadro flamenco in tablao settings, and in big theaters, mostly as guest artist with Carmona Flamenco. My favorite dancer right now is Juan de Juan..................I teach out of my studio Flamenco Danzarte in Seattle.............Check out my website www.anamontes.com !!!
