BEER IS BEER AND BEER IS GOOD!!!

About Me

Pullchains history starts out over 10 years ago when 3 of the members (all from Cedar Rapids Iowa) met to form a local band Chakra. They have been playing together ever since under different names and musical styles. After changing the name to Pullchain in 1999, there has been many lineup changes in the vocal department (think Spinal Tap but with singers instead of drummers and not nearly as many deaths caused by choking on vomit and spontaneous combustion). Finally, in 2003, things were set right when an old friend living in Kansas City puked into a microphone and blew everyone away with his vocal styling. Now with a complete lineup of all very good friends whom are all on the same page musically, things are finally where they need to be to allow the band to play and record the music they have always wanted. Except for one small problem:
NOT ENOUGH CANADIANS!
Fortunately, with the help of Sean Cameron, Pullchain's Canadian quota was filled after only a year of searching. Sean brings with him the experience needed to make Pullchain's dreams of world domination a reality.
Musically, Pullchains style can best be described as brutal but well thought out metal with very aggressive vocals. Their lyrics, although dark at times, reflect a more positive attitude towards life in general rather than the same old, whiny assed problems that everybody seems to churn out and attempt to call music.
The philosophy of the band can be summed up in seven words: BEER IS BEER AND BEER IS GOOD! Major influences include bands like Opeth, Dream Theater, Soilwork, Into Eternity and Darkane. Throw in the humor of Strapping Young Lad, Gwar and Primus, and you have a band who doesn't take itself too seriously, while taking their music VERY seriously.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: pullchain.us
Band Members: Mark Allen Six Strings of Inner Violence
Cory Pierce Random Acts of Percussive Brutality
Matthew Morrissey Melodic Atrocities in Post Mortem Death Grundge
Mark Horn Senseless Gutteral Rhythmic Tonage
Sean Cameron - Primary Alternate Destructive Nihilism

Influences: Our influence is primarily in European death metal; bands like Opeth, Soilwork, Omnium Gatherum and Disillusion. If you have never heard of these bands, you NEED TO CHECK THEM OUT!!! We also like to borrow from American metal as well, bands like Lamb of God and Pantera stand out as HUGE influences (Canadian bands are good too: Into Eternity, Nihility, Quo Vadis...). Our roots are in the classics, Van Halen, Dream Theater, Sepultura; while we retain our sense of humor in bands like Mr. Bungle, GWAR and Strapping Young Lad.
Sounds Like: If you HAD to say we sounded like anything it would have to be death metal. The problem is that you can't classify us as one style or another because we change styles with every song we write. We also have been known to play some songs completely different live. Labeling us is hard because one man's death is another man's progressive is another man's thrash. Why bother? Just say that we are metal and be done with it. Just drink beer. Beer is beer and beer is good.
