Defined By Struggle has been together since the summer of 2007. They started off with just four guys: Taylor Adsit (vocals), Matt Cooper (guitar), Parker Adsit (drums), and Nick Ploen (bass). Nick, Matt and Taylor were previously in a punk band together. Taylor played drums, Nick played bass, and Matt played guitar and did vocals. For one of their shows, Parker stepped in to play drums for them. It was then after the show, the four decided to start a metal band. Thus was the birth of Defined By Struggle. Initially, the four jammed together writing some songs and doing some covers. Then they decided they wanted to go somewhere, and so they attempted to find another guitarist. A guy named Grant joined the band as the rhythym guitarist, but he never went far. Grant was accepted into a boarding school out of state, and thereafter missed the band's first two shows. Grant was taken out of the band when Parker decided to add Mike DeGori (his vocalist form Plagued By Time) to the band. Mike became guitarist along with Matt. The band has played a few shows and has an album's worth of original songs. They will be playing a bunch more shows soon, and will be recording a demo within the next few months.
From all of us in Defined By Struggle, we'd like to thank all of our fans for being so kickass. We really appreciate all of the support. We also want to thank Debra and Dennis DeGori (Mike's parents) for helping the band with promo stuff, etc. We also want to think Carol Cali for offering to take out promo shots for free, and record some of our shows. And finally we would like to thank Marc Cash (DBS's producer) for giving us a chance, and giving us the opportunity to record a demo and get our name out there.
