About Me

Moved to San Francisco on Friday, the 13th of May last year and have yet to regret it (in spite of the ominous date). I'd been trying to get out here for the last ten years and finally made it. Moved here for the food, wine, weather, intelligent women and the SF House sound. Bit off a little more than I could chew and am working to get out of it now.I lived in Germany for nine years (age 9-18) and have found SF to be an acceptable substitute for Berlin, which is the only other city I'd rather live in. Picked up an open-minded, atypically American attitude while growing up and that attitude seems to prevail here in SF.Love the progressive nature of this city, the left-leaning politicking and open socialness of the city. The weather kicks ass, too. Spent the last thirteen years in Fort Liquordale, FL and really like the fog and grey.

My Interests

Food and more food. No, really- I have a really fast metabolism and love to eat.I've also got a pretty severe interest in music- see below.

I'd like to meet:

Buddha, but then I'd have to kill him! (you'll either get this or not. deal with it.)Other intelligent human beings...

Music:

house, techhouse, techno... minimal... deep electronic...I'm more into dj sets than groups on the whole. I actually once owned and sold a 20,000+ dance music record collection. I've been in the dance scene since around '91 and love to download sets off the internet.

Movies:

I've heard of those. Last good movies I saw were "Sideways" and "I am a sex addict". Don't really go for most of the Hollywood schlock that's so prevalent today. I mean come on- Miami Vice the f'ing movie? Pukes of Hazzard? GUH!

Television:

Yeah, I`ve heard of it. Haven`t really watched it since I moved to San Francisco and don`t really think much of it. Reruns of Saturday Night Live are one exception, as are some food/cooking shows. You can keep the rest!See my blog for a pretty good idea of how I feel about TV.

Books:

I`ve actually just finished - "Blithe Tomato - an insider`s wry look at farmer`s market society" by Dennis Saunders and am now reading "Organic, Inc. - natural foods and how they grew" by Samuel Fromartz. On deck I`ve got "The Omnivore`s Dilemma - a tale of four meals" by Michael Pollan and "Raising Less Corn, More Hell - the case for the independent farm and against industrial food" by George Pyle. Other favorites include "Fast Food Nation- the dark side of the all-american meal" and "Slow Food", both about the need for people to shift away from corporate food and start cooking for themselves. Hmmm... I`m beginning to notice a trend.

Heroes:

"A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose..." - that would be Weezy. She saved my life. Read about it in my blog...
