I am finishing a degree in Early Childhood Education, with an emphasis on multicultural education, at Shoreline Community College . I am currently working with children as a child development specialist in Seattle. I'm soon coming up on a year that I've been living independently (on my own without a roommate), so I'm working full time and am finally taking the time to get my music project off the ground.I'm a singer...a born singer, and music is the cornerstone of my life. I was blessed with the gift of song at conception, and have been singing every since. I've recently formed my band, and we sing soul, jazz and R&B music. We're starting as a cover band, singing well known published music from artsists such as Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Kelly Price, Musiq Soulchild, India Arie, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, The Commodores, Anita Baker and so on. All the songs we sing have either my or my music director's individual signatures on them. I'm writing my own music as well, and we look forward to performing my songs in about six months. Keep your eyes and ears out, cause we're gettin' ready to hit the scene, and we're gonna take it by force! (I'll be posting our performances in blogs and the messageboard.)When I'm not at work, I'm either on the tennis court (I'm a very accomplised tennis competitor and private instructor), chillin' wit' my friends/family, or relaxing in my most beloved downtown apartment. As India Arie says in her latest album (Testimony, Vol. 1: Life & Relationship), "I've learned to love the quiet moments, the Sunday mornings of life." It's during these moments that I can truly free my mind of the daily weight of tasks that demand my time and effort. I pull my blinds down, light my candles, boil my incense and allow my environment of peace and security to take me away into a place of absolute sereneness. Here I'm capable of anything, and I can write what's on my heart which eventually will become the lyrics to my future songs.Well, that's me people.
