About Me: I am a handsome purebred male Doberman. In August of 2001 my Mom and my Girl got really lonely for a dog after moving to Appleton earlier that year. At the time, there was a show on the Public Access channel that the local cable aired a few times a day - it was called Friends For Life. My mommy and my girl would watch it all the time, cause they wanted to find a dog to bring home and love. One day my mommy saw the local Humane Society profiling this handsome Doberman that was at the local shelter. My mommy and girl got very excited, because the nearest Doberman Rescue was over 100 miles away, and they really wanted a Dobie!! My mommy visited the shelter and we hit it off pretty well. My girl didn't come along at the time, but she came by the next day and we got along PERFECTLY. So it was a done deal. I had a new home!
My mommy and my girl had an interesting time with me to start out because I wasn't a house dog, so I had no idea how to use steps and I had no idea what potty training was all about. I also was a wee little tiny bit obessed with drinking all the water I could get. After a few accidents in the house, I figured out how to go potty OUTSIDE. My mommy and my girl were determined to look past my first few mistakes cause they loved me right from the start.
After talking to my vet, my mommy and my girl think this is what my life might have been like before I joined their family. I was about 8-9 months old when my mommy and girl adopted me, and I weighed about 65 pounds. I was probably kept outside in a concrete kennel, and probably never got as much water as I needed. I probably ran away somehow in July 2001, and one of the small town police departments found me running around town. No one claimed me, and I went to the local Human Society, where I ended up meeting my Mommy and my girl.
I was a skinny and very depressed dog when I joined their family. My girl was very sad at the time as well (something about not getting along with her dad.) We would lay on the floor, cuddle and comfort each other. Since we did that, we both bonded and now she is my special girl, and I am her special dog. I am so happy!!! My girl gives me dog bones when I shake hands, and every so often we take a walk or go to the dog park. Now I am getting a bit chunky (about 85 pounds) and I am therefore getting spunky and quite demanding, as I should be since I rule the house!!
I spend my days sleeping. I live for when my girl comes home so she can scratch behind my ears and my belly too. We go for walks and to the dog park where I run around and sniff other doggies hinders. My girl hates that.
My girl is also getting a bit sad because she says that I am getting some white hairs on my head and that time stands still for no dog, although she wishes it would.
