About Me

R.I.P ROBOTS, THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT HAS SUPPORTED US ALONG THE WAY..
"GOOD TIMES, GOOD SLIPS"

After 3 successful UK tours and a debut EP out on Dorchester based label "We Heart Records" things are looking good for Robots Talk In Twos. Winning over hearts and minds throughout the UK with their unique brand of post hardcore styled anthems, 'The Robots' have been hailed as a breath of fresh air in an oversaturated and formulaic UK rock scene. Their attitude and beliefs are simple and are at the heart of their success, relying not on a quick fix rise to fame on the back of a fad; instead playing the game by their own rules and refusing to be seen as part of any scene.
However, one thing Robots Talk In Twos are not is a band trying too hard to be different - they just are. So many bands reek of effort to attempt to sound different and stand out from the crowd, Robots Talk In Twos achieve this effortlessly and still manage to get you singing along in the process...But don't take my word for it, here's what everyone else has to say about them:
REVIEWS
Kerrang! live review, supporting Skindred Dec 2005:
"How Robots Talk In Twos (the artists formerly known as Trip) aren't massive yet is a mystery. The Newport quintet are almost peerless in the amazingly tight, technical metal they play and tonight they once again destroy the stage. The grins on the faces of band members as they recognize faces in the crowd shows that they love this fucking game and its about time the world took notice"
BBC Wales Review
Shaking to the foundations with a passionate but melodic volume, this EP is a five-track demolition of conventional expectations of south Wales rock.
Protestations of 'uniqueness' are common enough in a rock scene dominated by a restricted set of sounds, but Robots Talk In Twos say they don't stive to sound different, they just are. And for once they're right.
While they're perfectly comfortable in the modern UK rock sound, they're not slavish accolytes of stylistic flourishes which will date other bands' output. Instead, this is full, wall-of-sound, structured rock music with influences from prog, electronica and old-fashioned alternative rock.
Roman Remains is a taut and twisty track with a behemoth of a chorus. The City Of Dreadful Joy is almost At The Drive-In-like in its staccato punk passages and band name-referencing breakdown into an echo-y, contemplative mid-section.
Hourglass Disfigure is possibly the most monolithic and ambitious song here - the production job all about depth and mass. Ketamine Disco recalls Jarcrew in its rhythms, albeit not quite sitting on the same high pedestal as the sadly-missed Ammanford band's work. Still an interesting diversion in style though.
Final track Animal Equality finishes this EP in a way illustrating why Kerrang! and others have jumped to the band's cause. Crashing multi-layered guitars, Marcus' voice gabbling on the verses before another anthemic chorus erupts.
Another high-quality Welsh rock band shows its hand. Full house.

God Is In The TV EP Review
"It's all very well Lost Prophets having mass appeal and big choruses that the kids can shake their skinny fists to. But they have no edge, no true aggression. They are diluted and vapid. It's like their music has been put through a machine to make it more suitable for clean cut mobile phone adverts. All the invention and passion is stripped, until it's just one big haircut. I expect that matey boy from Lost Prophets wished he could combine inventive post punk, visceral messed up sonics, with big, emotional, chart friendly, punch you in the face chorus lines. But he just can't do it. Robots Talk In Twos can, and they are fucking brilliant...
'Robots' from Newport, South Wales, manage that difficult feat of combining accessible anthemic Saves The Day style melodics, with the raw, unpredictable and aggressive edge of At The Drive In. The tracks still retain the taught rhythmic stabbing trademark of ATDI's 'One Armed Scissor', with cascading intricate guitar melodies, and perfectly executed screamo vocals, but this is, more often than not, contrasted with explosive, melodic, pocket rocket chorus lines. An observation perfectly demonstrated by blistering lead track Roman Remains. In fact the whole EP is blistering throughout, the guitars are exceptional, one moment dense and aggressive, the next chorused and spacey. They are always lean, and taught, and never overplayed. The drumming is also fantastic, as are the vocals, which have a great range, from restraint, to passionate screaming, to those big ,epic, melodic moments..
Robots Talk In Twos are certainly not standard. They are a breath of fresh air, taking the best of other bands and producing an EP without a weak track...I think they could be a classic band. Currently they are one of the best bands to come out of the UK in a long time, masterfully bridging the gaps between hardcore, post punk, and accessible rock. Watch this space.

"...The energy and melodic intelligence of My Chemical Romance given the sullen introspective world view of Alkaline Trio, with enough Post-Hardcore edges to assure repeated listens..."
Moderate Rock Music Reviews
Discordant punk, snatches of high-pitched prog rock, broken shards of indie and layers of quirk-packed alterna-pop… It might seem like Robots Talk In Twos are packing too much in here. One minute the Welsh quintet's punchy beats and shrill vocals sound like Snapcase at their sharpest and the next they do a decent impression of Biffy Clyro at their most sedate. It's not a lack of care or concentration that makes 'From The Cradle To The Grave' so schizophrenic though; it's a lack of fear. And it's brilliant. These songs are brave enough to go way beyond the three minute barrier ('Ketamine Disco' goes twice as long and sounds bloody fantastic all the way), they don't cave-in to trifling things like verse-chorus-verse and they never, ever sound ordinary. This is what At The Drive-In would have sounded like if they were from Newport not Mexico and dug drinking cider rather than reading revolutionary politics. The 'Bots sound is probably too fractured, too frantic, too fucking good to get the attention it deserves right now but cult status and other, greater things are surely just round the bend. And this is only their debut disc.
