About Me
Born and raised in Jamaica Queens N.Y.C. 24 year old, John Papas had no easy childhood. Between growing up in a broken home, uncovering lies, and being abused both mentally & physically he was forced to take on the challenges and rewards of life on his own. His childhood dreams and desires had remained more a dream than reality. Going to school was not of much importance at this time and John found himself not caring about his education. He finished grade school and junior high with many struggles and poor academic habits. At this time, being frustrated and feeling like giving up, John decided to relocate to Virginia where he would begin a new life. John was now attending school regularly but still was messing up. It was here though, taken out of his element, where he finally began to realize the importance of education and decided to make a drastic change for the better.
The next chapter of his life would bring him back home to NY. With the help of a few inspiring teachers and supportive peers he finally finished the 10th grade with success. Success would continue for John as he honed in on his creative skills. While in school, he got involved with art, writing and drama. He excelled and was awarded numerous awards upon graduation as he also had the honor of being Master of Ceremonies. His friendly social character inspired him to develop a passion for acting. John pursued an acting career for a few years, participating in productions with a theatre group and doing numerous comedic character voice overs. He soon realized, although possessing great talent, what a financial struggle acting would be and put it on the back burner to follow his other natural talent in art.
From a young child, John loved drawing and making designs. His natural eye for colors, designs and patterns brought him closer to the design world. Inspired by Hip Hop, urban culture and Entertainment, John began his designs with this in mind. Never forgetting his Greek roots and the different cultures that surrounded his life, he incorporates diversity into his work. John’s passion, hard work and dedication is what drives him up the ladder of success. His drive to make something of himself helped him in attaining a degree in Visual Communications along with being named to Honors and Deans List stature. He began his graphic career officially in 2004 with freelance work to create a name for himself. His unique style caught the eye of Fashion Designers, where he decided to take on fashion as well. His knowledge of Graphic Design helped him learn the ropes in the fashion industry. John’s creativity and love for the Hip Hop Culture that raised him, helped him design urban fashions.
Through his experience with a fashion company for 2 years, John worked closely with celebrities in Public Relations to promote his work and the company as a whole. Beginning as an intern, he moved up becoming the first intern of the company to create his own clothing line from start to finish. It was there where he was given the nick name “ PaPaRaZZi, ThE iLLeSt GrEeK iN tHe GaMe â€. Due to unfortunate circumstances, John left the company but is currently Freelancing and pursuing a certification in Web Design to further his education. In addition he is looking for a full time position in the Visual Communications and Entertainment field ( Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Web Design, Movies, TV, Music, Sports etc.) within a progressive office… one that recognizes creative skill and initiative as being a vital asset to the overall success and profitability of the company… eventually leading to a management position as Creative Director.
John hopes to make a legendary footprint in the world and inspire other people to rise up from what ever struggle they are going through to show off their talents.
