Greetings, I am the Horse-Unicorn creature known as Horse of a different Colour. As the name suggests I change colour, depending on where I am and the company I keep.I am the pinnacle of everything that an equine creature represents physically, spiritually, philosophically and actually to its master, or mistress in this case..., the Glorious Maiden.For we share a unique bond that transcends the power of words and in the world and our homeland of Imagica we can communicate through telepathy, the one pre-empting the thoughts of the other; for in this world, man and creature are equal, there is no hierarchy but a natural intuitive symbiotic ecosystemic co-existence where man, tree, stone and beast hold a sacredness at all times respected by all. For in that place I am not "side kick" so much soul companion of the Glorious One. I am her most trusted friend and mentor, one on whom she knows she can lean in times of crisis. I am loyal to the ones I hold dearly in my heart, and to the end. The Maiden prefers my company than she does that of the tiresome self-important people in court circles who try to influence her using flattery and other means to make her feel special and important. They talk talk talk, endlessly for hours about "important matters". Maiden often at such times finds her attention wandering to different pastures... and in me she finds true refuge from all the things she finds wearisome in the world. Together at night we fly through the skies of Imagicaland, a world where what you imagine with you mind becomes the reality before your eyes. My actual name is Gannymede, the thoroughbred from an elite breed of horses. During the day I lounge and strut about looking like the handsome stud that I am, around the grounds of her vast castle demesne. By night I can be seen galloping through the paddock until I take flight into the skies, transforming into the magical winged Unicorn and change colour according to the land I am in. It is at night that I go roaming the skies of the fantasy world Imagica, often taking Glorious Maiden with me on horseback. In Imagicaland I am ridden without tack.I possess a wisdom, virtue and intelligence all of my own, and because I am so well travelled I frequently encounter many different beings each with their unique intelligence, wisdom and mysteries.More on the mythology of horses and my mission as the guardian and chosen one to the Glorious Maiden...We were the Finest Creations - mystically forged creatures of perfection sent by the creators to aid the Fallen (mankind) during their mortal existence. Though we resemble ordinary horses, we are highly intelligent, capable of communicating telepathically, and completely moral. We are assigned to bond with individuals of great potential and protect them from harm while guiding them along a path of virtue. Gannymede has found his charge, a young maiden by the name of Glorious, whose father is the overprotective ruler of the Kingdom of Everfhear. Her mother is also a strong and willful woman, and they have (however well-meaningly), controlled and overprotected their daughter most of her life. To escape from the realities of her ivory tower existence, the fair maiden spends endless hours playing her musical instruments. She has an entire trove of instruments which she collected over time. Her well-meaning but overprotective parents have always given her everything she could wish for in life, and materially and physically she wants for nothing - being a fair and beautiful woman in the full bloom of youth, except the freedom and adventure she truly craves.Her best friend musically is her harpsichord, and through striking the keys in a certain combination of tones, she becomes transported into other worlds. She can at such times forget about her at times lonely, cloistered and cosseted existence and imagine herself somewhere else where she is surrounded by colourful friends, and life is a rollercoaster ride of adventure and forays into the unknown.This "somewhere else" is Imagicaland, a world created entirely from the imagination, through the link of music - sound and tones in certain ordered combinations.Although I, as her steed Gannyemede am by day to be found in the royal Mews at the castle in the Kingdom of Everfhear, when she unlocks the musical code by striking the keys of her harpsichord, I am transformed into the Unicorn of different colours, and we are immediately spirited away into the world of Imagica, where she is free to choose her friends and to create the world around her through the power of imagination.Together they must contend with the other temptations of the world - the lure of power, the mystery of learning and knowledge, and the intrigue and freedom of adventure and independence. The Maiden is still young and unworldly, having been almost possessively sheltered from the iniquitous ways of the world, but being a restless and wandering soul, she escapes with her fair steed and mentor (ME!), and I am duty bound to guide her to the best of my equine ability.
