My Interests

music theory, music composition, band music, orchestra music, opera, choral music, humor, sarcasm, education, trivia, puzzles, movies, all kinds of other stuff...

I'd like to meet:

Josquin desPrez, Johannes Brahms, Charles Ives, George Crumb, Anton Webern

I like some of all types of music, though most music of any type is crap. I find myself listening to odd pop music (the Austin Lounge Lizards, the Bobs, They Might Be Giants), and art music of all eras. Strangely enough, as a band director, I don't listen to a lot of band music.

Cash Cab, CSI, The Daily Show, Hell's Kitchen, Law and Order, Mind of Mencia, Mythbusters, Time Team

Books:

Currently reading:
The Gnostic Gospels, Me Talk Pretty Some Day
Recently read:
1491, The Two Georges, A Smattering of Ignorance

Heroes:

I have many...some are political (Jefferson, for example), some are music composers (Josquin Des Prez, J. S. Bach, Johannes Brahms, John P. Sousa, Anton Webern, Benjamin Britten, Paul Hindemith, George Crumb to name a few), some are writers (C. S. Lewis, Harry Turtledove), and others are some of my friends.
