I'd like to meet:
i really love people, so it would probably be easier to list who i wouldn't like to meet:1) anyone who is compelled to prove to me how cool they are, how cool i'm not, how ultra-talented and intellectual they are or why i should like them. by now, i think i can figure those things out on my own.2) loud people3) stupid girls who think tits are their ticket to the world.4) guys who entertain stupid girls.5) people who think it's okay to touch me without my permission or establishing a relationship/friendship with me first.6) violent people7) anyone who thinks this is judgemental.
Music:
i pretty much like it all, but, honestly, i don't care to listen to artists who objectify women, encourage violence, glorify infidelity, disrespect any race/culture or portray sex as no more than a saturday night sport. and most contemporary country makes me nauseous... long live the singer songwriter, i say! but, for the sake of the "search", i'll list portishead, indigo girls, pearl jam, new order, the smiths, shawn colvin, david wilcox, thievery corporation, groove armada, ryan adams, damien rice, everything but the girl, massive attack, tricky, nin, mazzy star, tool, live, jane's addiction, ben fold five, beth orton, shelby lynne, patty griffin, big head todd and the monsters, chemical brothers, patsy cline, kruder and dorfmeister, barry manilow (because he writes the songs that make the whole world sing), ani difranco, frank sinatra, nat king cole, styx, AM gold 70's music, 80's music including hairbands, old school 70's r&b and i have been developing a new interest in opera.
Movies:
my favorite movie of all time is out of africa. i can reference a quote for all occasions from that one movie and would sell someone else's first born for robert redford as denis finch-hutton *sigh*. other movies i love include splendor in the grass, the natural, closer, when harry met sally, 80's john hughes-esque flicks like breakfast club, pretty in pink, some kind of wonderful... anything with cary grant, the lord of the rings trilogy, all 6 star wars movies, the harry potter movies, crash, secretary, bridget jones diary, practically every sappy romantic comedy starring meg ryan, julia roberts or sandra bullock, memento, strictly ballroom, kill bill 1-2, the way we were, from dusk til dawn, sin city, the thomas crown affair (old and new), imitation of life, breakfast at tiffanys, moulin rouge... the list goes on. and i can't wait... CAN'T WAIT FOR THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA!!!!!
Television:
i don't watch much television because i don't have cable. i don't have cable because i found i watched too much television when i had it, so i got rid of it. however, there are a few shows i did watch and try to catch now. they are queer as folk, law and order (any of them, but especially special victim's unit), csi (once again, any of them), x-files, homicide: life on the streets, adult swim, sex and the city and, my favorite guilty pleasure, dawson's creek (i ache for pacey whitter *sigh*). i also love cartoons and will watch just about any discovery special about dinosaurs. i have never seen an episode of survivor, the batchelor or the batchelorette and i hope i go to the grave that way. sometimes i wish the geico commercial about the newlyweds in the small house was a real show. i might watch that...
Heroes:
my 17 year old niece, tabitha. she understands loyalty, honesty, self-respect and self-commitment better than most adults. she is also one of my favorite people on the planet. she gives me hope. Matt. he knows why...
