About Me

ROBYNE & MARC HARRISONofMARNAIRICCIABOUT US.....Robyne Jeniene Williams grew up in Philadelphia, PA singing in a local Church choir. As a child, Robyne's ingenuity exhibited itself early on when she'd organize and sing in her own shows for sixth grade schoolmates during recess. Later, for nine years she'd split her time between high brow and street level genres, studying ballet, hip-hop, tap, vocal training and afrikan dance at Philadanco and later at Freedom Theatre as well as singing and dancing for local talent shows and teen talent competitions. It has been the influence of Robyne's entertainment-inclined family that was the key to her professional evolution. With a grandfather that played jazz sax, a grandmother who sang like Nancy Wilson to the three of five uncles that also play sax and keyboard in local bands to a mother that's an actress, director and poet to a father that plays jazz sax in his own orchestra, Robyne's been influenced and surrounded by music and entertainment since the day she was born.Robyne says, "My mother always used to perform in plays, rehearse in the house and play music. I'd just sing songs with my hairbrush in the mirror and dance to pass time, since I was an only child," she reminisces warmly" As a kid I'd catch myself picking all the songs I liked and putting them together on tape and harmonize with myself. At the time I didn't really realize that developing and managing artists was something I wanted to do, I thought I was gonna be a singer" However, Robyne soon realized that she rather wanted to write music instead of sing and perform it, her discerning tastes became quite evident "I knew I was destined to be a part of the entertainment industry in some aspect."In 1997 Robyne met a local music producer and DJ, Marc Anthony Harrison, and teamed up with him to start a record label, Struggle Records. MARCMarc Anthony Harrison was born the fifth child to Francine Rorie in Philadelphia, Pa. It was here that Marc established a taste for music as his mother instilled in him the values of frugality, discipline, family unity and hard work. Marc dropped out of school in the eleventh grade to become a music producer and DJ after reading the autobiography of the legendary Berry Gordy. This inspired him to later went back to school to get his diploma where he attended the Art Institute of Philadelphia to study video production and graphic design.Throughout the ages of 13 to 17, Marc carried records for Philly urban legend "DJ Ran" Randy Gaskins, and "Howie T" known for playing house music and he developed an ear for music production. Growing up listening to Motown, Earth, Wind and Fire and Marvin Gaye, Marc knew he wanted to produce music. But another love developed, writing and producing plays, became a new passion for which he found himself intertwined. Heavily influenced and guided by his English teacher Marsha Pinkus, Marc wrote his first play "Does it Matter" at age 16, winning 2nd place in a local competition and was invited to New York where he came in first place winner and saw his play performed live for an audience of 3,000.Working with local artists he was introduced to his wife, Robyne Jenine Williams in 1997. In 1999, Marc interned for Frank Lipseys and Dave Brown at Universal Records and began to learn the intricate details of the music industry, thru sales, promotions and marketing. Along with music production, he was mentored by both on and how to grow and maintain a successful record label. HOW WE BEGAN.....In 1998 Robyne and Marc formed a record label and entertainment group. Robyne........'s focus evolved into A&R supervision since she took to savvily brokering deals, prudently navigating budgets, deftly disseminating administrative tasks, utilizing and trusting her keen ear for quality material and finding talented artists. This was icing on the cake for this natural born nurturer to whom music had always been an integral part of her life. Robyne had found her calling as an A&R Rep but found these tasks as consuming a job as any in the music business. Marc........'s focus, music production, kept him extremely busy also writing, collaborating, producing and spinning songs for aspiring artists in the Philadelphia area. The A&R duo became very close friends as well as business partners and produced a catalogue of music as collaborators with other local artists. In 2000 they began developing and training artists under their company Struggle Entertainment, a developmental subsidary of Struggle Records. In 2004, They hosted a talent night, Mayhem Mondays, at local bar and grill,"The Terminal" in Upper Darby, Pa, where they experienced a surge of talent that swarmed to the weekly event which drew a diverse crowd. It was then that they realized they could start an A&R company so it appeared the success of all Robyne and Marc envisioned as A&R Reps and dreams for a multi-media entertainment to house that talent was upon them. However, after a stream of failed partnerships or time spent with associates who could not embrace their vision past their own personal goals. The two A&R visionaries drained and disheartened decided to put their dreams on hold.In 2006, Robyne was approached by her 530 housemates, check out the 530 story, long-time friends and members of the House of 530, about heading off the A&R component of their company. Each expressed their dissatisfaction and disgruntlement with the lack of support, marketing and promotion of Philly artists and music from the powers to be on the local scene. They painted a pictuew of a vanishing, vibrant local music scene that integrated diverse music genres and the downward spiral of the direction of the music industry nationwide. And now, more than a year later, the MARNAIRICCI A&R MANAGERS have teamed up with the House of 530 Productions, both on a mission to make a difference in how music, theatre and live performances are delivered by artists in the Philadelphia region. The partners are currently networking to encourage others to join their association and bringing to light their plans to establish an independent multi-media communications center. The 530/MARNAIRICCI partners are determined and driven to successfully realize their dreams collectively and individually.KEYNOTE: Robyne and Marc were married in Las Vegas, May 2007. WHAT WE BRING .....The MARNAIRICCI A&R MANAGERS in association and partnership with The HOUSE OF 530 Productions total nearly twenty-five years of professional music and media industry experience. They have a broad knowledge of how this industry works and what is needed to guarantee success and both have officially teamed up to offer a needed change to the new generation of talent on the music scene today. We are a group of music professionals group with a wide array of industry contacts and opportunities locally and worldwide that will make a difference in your artistic future. In full fledged partnership, and support of the HOUSE OF 530, Robyne and Marc, the A&R of MARNAIRICCI, are prepared to undertake the challenge of showcasing a select, diverse, but small number of acts that they consider to be the most credible and potentially phenomenal artists. Artists who are in their eyes will be the most compelling and focused, and once developed, will set off a trend and breed of unique talent developed and established with ........"old skool........" A&R.The most fascinating aspect of the MARNAIRICCI A&R process has been witnessing how many artists and bands today WANT NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH the hard work, commitment and patience involved. They want the quick fame and glamour associated with being a star or “local” celebrity, but refuse to comprehend or embrace the amount of work, stamina and acquired professionalism it takes to maintain what they think they have achieved or aspire. A lot of artists today, have seen too many acts over the last 10 years break up, implode or simply get lost in a system that they truly had no business being involved in the first place. Furthermore, the absence of credible and effectively managed A&R has resulted in most artists lack of professionalism, talent, work ethic, endurance, poorly projected images and likeability, often portrayed or conveyed onto the music buying public in a negative way. They have seen this type of behavior or images passed on and received by our youth as being acceptable. What MARNAIRICCI A&R MANAGERS & the HOUSE OF 530 seek are a new breed of artists who think long-term, have a solid grasp of who and what they are, and on their own have already been able to map out a career path that is consistent with that vision. This is what will contribute to building long-lasting careers and these are the type of artists we will be seeking and developing for our label. WHAT WE WILL OFFER.....
