About Me

I'm 26 and living on a man-made lake in South Orange County California currently. I'm a musician and have extremely broad tastes in music - everything from Classical to current Rock/Alternative, and some Rap/R&B/Hip Hop etc. Outside of music I have a lot of interests, bio-psychology in particular. I strongly believe that by uniting western science and eastern spiritual and abstract realistic concepts, we can more fully experience health and life. Right now I'm reading everything I can get my hands on along those lines, and hope to conduct research into cognitive mechanics.
Most people fit into a category of some sort ya know? Geek, musclehead, prep, whatever. I don't really know where I fit. I'm sort of a hybrid geek/outdoors guy I guess.
Let's start with the outdoors stuff:
I LOVE kayaking! Be it here on the lake or out on the ocean I love me some kayaking! Camping, hiking, climbing... basically if I can get away from the city and into an area with trees, or water... I'm a happy guy.
Ok, now the geek stuff:
I'm almost always reading something. History, Sci-Fi, Mystery, Fantasy (like Tolkien, not the chick novels), Horror, etc. There are days I'll go to Barnes and Noble's and buy like two books, go home and won't sleep till I've finished both. More geekish stuff, I play a number of computer/console games. All hail Rally Racing in Gran Turismo 2! ... or not, that's fine too. Just, just BE that way! ;D
Normal guy stuff:
I love my car dearly, it's a silver 04 Tuscani that I've put some work into. I enjoy just driving, getting away from it all ya know? There's several awesome twisty canyons close by that I drive frequently. :)
In terms of my life ambitions I'd say that I'm working on fulfilling my purpose. The spread of a holistic and healthy view of human existence, and the unification of western science and eastern principles. I won't get rich doing this of course, but at least I can make a difference and really that's all that matters to me.

My Interests

Kayaking, Running, Hiking, Computers, Games, History, Music-music-music, Musicals, Desert trips, Shodokan, Swing Dancing and more I can't think of right now.

I'd like to meet:

A person that doesn't play games. Someone who is more interested in a meaningful, healthy relationship than in image or appearances for their friends. I'd like to meet someone that I can talk to about anything; politics, ethics, sports, movies, what they had for lunch, what's on their mind, just anything... and someone who in turn takes an interest in me.

I never thought I'd say this, but a person that likes being cherished and treated well. I'm looking for someone who, like me, believe that relationships are founded in mutual respect, trust, admiration, apprieciation, and support. Love follows, but these are the foundation that must come first. In other words, an equal that can push me to be better, and who I can motivate in turn.

I'd like a someone who doesn't keep secrets. Let's be honest, if a relationship is to work out you can't keep secrets from one another. Keep secrets together not from each other. Lastly, someone who's okay spending quiet time together as well as being out and about. It never stops amazing me how many people just want to spend my money. Believe it or not, guys like staying in and snuggling sometimes too. /shocker!

I'll be honest here, I'm tired of games, I'm tired of pretenses... I'm ready for someone who wants to be more than just 'my other half' but wants to be a full equal in a relationship.I know you're out there, where are you?

Movies:

All Time Favs: Gettysburg, Ocean's Eleven, Hunt for Red October, Payback, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy /geek!, Blade Runner, Amadeus, The Whole Nine Yards.
Current Favs: The Incredibles! (I LOVE the soundtrack, and the film is slick too)

Television:

Firefly - an awesome sci-fi show that never got the love it deserved. Sort of a cowboy/adventure/space opera. Check it out :)

Books:

Just finished: Good Omens - a hillarious story about the end of the world gone awry. Terry Pratchett / Neil Gaiman... final verdict: I'll be re-reading this one for years to come.
Currently Reading: The Integral Trees - Larry Niven, solid sci-fi. This one is a bit odd, sort of humanity in a more primative form after it escaped the equivalent of a slave ship. Very interesting, not sure I like/dislike it yet.

Heroes:

My grandfather. The man has been married for over 55 years, never divorced... THAT ladies and gents is a hero in my books. God bless em. :)
