D.J. Gruv/Tunes/Jacob --First of all, it was my parents that saw my musical talent in me. They know a thing or two about muzik themselves. They had me listenin' to things I didn't even know I'de like until I got older, but even back then I loved muzik. My older brother had me listnein' to 2 Live Crew, Public Enemy, Run & Beasties, Tone Loc & Too short just to name a few. But there waz always somethin' about tha DJ. Hearin' tha old kutz and juggles...... I loved it. Mr. Mix and Termantor X had me playin tapes backwardz. Now, to this day, I never really thought I would be a turntablist, playin tha Guitar as much as I did/do. But shure enuff, life works in some crazy wayz, and I'm lovin' every second of it. I've been a Turntablist for 6 yearz, played Guitar for 13 yearz, and produced my own muzik for about 3 yearz now. I've rocked crowds all over Michigan including places like Western Mich, Michigan State, Eastern Mich, and Cent. Mich. I've had gigs at Heat in Pontiac, Hard Rock Cafe in Detriot and Underground parties all over Detroit City. My last gig was at Tha Buddha Lounge in Detroit every friday night. My set up includes 2 Vestex PDX-2000's, a pair of Shure 44-7 needles, a Rane TTM-56 Mixer, a pair of JBL E-ONS, a M-Audio keyboard, a Fender Strat., a Peavey axe, a Crate 120 amp for practice and a Compaq Laptop. For Computer software, I have Sound Forge 7.0, Acid Pro 5.0, Fruity Loops XXL, Live Lite, Reason, and Sound Studio II. I also have a Groove Tube Studio Microphone and a Shure Preformance Microphone. My lastest addition to tha studio is tha Serato Scratch Live. It bridges tha gap between me being a turntablist and a producer.
