Songs to Believe In is the EP to be released on May 13th, 2005 by Vancouver-based Jeff Johnson.
Former songwriter and member of Ten Ways From Sunday, Johnson is no stranger to the music industry. His talent and efforts have earned him national television and radio exposure, a feature song in EA Sports NHL Hockey 2004, and a most coveted spot on the 2003 Vancouver Seeds compilation.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Johnson headed back into the studio in April 2004 with a new creative approach and musical purpose. With the help of producer and engineer Gord Sran; part-time employment at a local music shop; and opening gigs around Vancouver, Johnson began funding a solo record. His powerful voice and urgent stabbing guitar caught the attention of independent film producer Paul Dhillon, who was so captivated by Johnsons songwriting ability that he commissioned three of his songs for his upcoming film titled, Sweet America (due out late 2005).
Most recently, Jeff placed first in the Rock 101 Rhythm and Brews Talent Competition and earned himself an opening slot for 54.40 as well as a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle. It was now time to introduce a band. Working at a music shop certainly had its advantages. Johnson was exposed to a number of talented musicians and is proud to introduce TJ OMalley (bass/back-up vocals),Were not a flash in the pan." states Johnson, "Our songs and lyrics are creative sonic reflections of everyday life, our actions, and how they affect us and our surroundings. To me, music is my journal, a place where I go to communicate. After several shows and months of studio time, Johnson's "Songs To Believe In" caught the attention of Nickelback songwriter and 604 Label Owner Chad Kroeger who went on to sign the band to his label and began working with the band to land a major label deal. The Jeff Johnson band oficially signed with 604 on March 17th, 2006 and have been working hard at writing songs for their debut full length release due out in 2007.
