Albion Free State: four guys and a gal creating their own blend of indie folk/rock music.
Hailing from South East London and formed in 2002, Gary Alltimes (guitar and vocals), Jon Botterman (guitar, melodica and vocals), Matt Clinch (drums), Eddie Ronan (melodica, harmonica and vocals) and Bonnie Timms (keyboards, squeezebox, melodica, clarinet and vocals) are making music just for the sheer fun, love and appreciation of it.
Albion Free State produce, record, release, launch and promote their own music. They create their own visuals, light shows and stage decoration and even engineer their own sound.
The members of Albion Free State have been together for years and so it has become something of a family as well as a work force that has been welded together through the sheer enjoyment of the music they create. They have headlined festivals and have played gigs the length and breadth of the country. Regular gigs at clubs and pubs in Soho, Shoreditch and Farringdon have secured them a place in many a Londoner's heart - but it won't stop there. AFS will continue to travel the country and beyond to build up their fanbase in the only way they know how - by being themselves - friendly, courteous, polite and giving.
"Winners of the 'Lewivision' song contest, Albion Free State's twee Belle & Sebastian-esque British folk-pop meanderings get Dirty South's vote every time."
Modern Love Presents..... music promotions company for the 'Dirty South' music venue.
"Blissful and jaunty without being sickly, this is a great soundtrack to the autumn. 'How To Stay The Same' is like early Badly Drawn Boy before he forgot that we loved the carefree haziness he made (think 'Pissing In The Wind' or 'Something to Talk About').
The female/male harmonies on 'Don't Look Further' remind of the brilliant and soon to be huge Slow Club.
'Rebeckah' too is a highlight - it's lazy summer afternoons when you're slowly closing your eyes in the farm after a few midday beers, the kind of record you wanna snuggle with your girl to. The record leaves you feeling warm and cosy - it really is worth giving AFS a try."

"Lovely sound, and great vocals, combined with superb instrumentation. Love it!"
