Music, first of all. I could (and will) talk about it forever and ever. I have three artists that I love to the point of it being a tiny obsession: the Indigo Girls, Melissa Ferrick, and Patty Griffin, which I guess makes me a "typical" folkie lesbian at heart. But I'll listen to anything at least once. I'm also fond of hip hop (love the Fugees, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Wyclef Jean, Common, Mr Lif, Mos Def, Outkast, even Tupac sometimes) and punk and rock and bluegrass and soul and blues and...well. You get the idea. My favorite form of entertainment is going to concerts, whether I know the performer or not. I can pretty much always be found doing something music-related...whether it's listening or playing/singing or going to shows.

I'll add more to this as I think of stuff to say.
Bobert. I'd really like to meet the digital version of Bobert. (Sara, let's make a myspace page for Bobert.) Someone who fits at least five of the following categories to be the fourth wheel to my constant and unshakeable third-wheel-awkwardness: Bumpersticker addicts. Trashy breakfast candidates. Rollergirl wannabes. Those who make a habit of riding face down in the back seats of taxis everywhere. Those who aren't big on social graces and might slip on down to the oasis. Liberals. Rockstars. The uninhibited. People who could be classified as "lovably weird." Those who might save me a seat on the bus to Hell - cuz I sure ain't going to heaven if it's like the god squad says it is, and I want some company on the trip down. People who understand the weight of the truth, and the value of the occasional well-placed lie. The ever-growing cadre of hell-bent, whole-hog, knock-down, drag-out, road-weary, poster-stealing, t-shirt-wearing, concert-attending, autograph-getting, hard-drinking, weather-defying, picture-taking, give-groupies-a-bad-name, driving-hundreds-of-miles-don't-mean-shit-to-me-if-I-get-to- see-a-great-show, raging music addicts...like myself. (Oh, and? Your mom. Yeah, I said it.)
This could go on forever, but here's a preliminary list of artists I am constantly listening to:
THE TOP 3:
THE REST OF 'EM
...like I said, I can go on for a while. (Gotta love CD Baby for feeding my music addiction: go check it out here. ) Hey, if you have any new people for me to get addicted to, I'm always open to hearing someone else.
I admit it, I'm a fantasy junkie. I love, love, LOVE the X-Men movies, and lots of other comic book flicks as well (Batman Begins, the Spiderman movies, shoot, I even liked the Hulk movie). Harry Potter, of course - along with hundreds of millions of others. I wasn't so much a fan of the Lord of the Rings movies, although I love the books...but they were good entertainment. I also love a really good romantic comedy - like "When Harry Met Sally" or "Notting Hill," but my favorite kind of movies are the dramas. I'm kind of into the whole sad/dark thing, in case you can't tell. *wink*
There was a time when I was obsessed with a few select TV shows that I never missed. Now, not so much. But thank god for DVDs, so I can watch my fave shows all the time (without commercials! there IS a god, and she makes DVDs!). Shows I have loved: ER, The West Wing, The L Word, Mad About You, Scrubs, American Dreams, Grey's Anatomy, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos.
Amy Ray (songwriting divinity in human form, and such an elegant and passionate and committed person. If I could be like one person in the world, I'd want to be like Amy). Susan Faludi, because she writes the truth and refuses to back away from it. Dr. Paul Farmer (one of the most genuinely good people alive today). Aaron Sorkin (for being smart and funny and unashamedly liberal). Margaret Mead. Katharine Hepburn. Sylvia Plath. Again, I'm going to have to add to this as I think of people.
