Band Members: “The dream was always running ahead of me. To catch up, to live for a moment in unison with it, that was the miracle.†–Anais Nin
Influences:
AMY GRANT first and foremost!! I just appreciate the heck out of her. A concert of hers in the early 80's set me on a path I haven't abandoned. I may have put things on hold for other responsibilities but have never abandoned the dream! Without knowing her personally she still taught me a valuable lesson...Be true to yourself no matter what!
Krystal Gayle, a woman who is timeless, beautiful and even though had only 10 minutes to board a flight took the time to give a young girl visiting Nashville for the first time some great advice. I was just ending a trip to Nashville and was at the airport a bit early. A man walked up and set a few of his bags down and some of his equipment next to me, I looked up as he asked gently, "Miss, would you mind watching my bags?" I said, not at all. As he turned to walk away a couple sitting across the way said, "Do you know who that is?" I said, "I believe I have seen him before" and they confirmed it was Mr Chet Atkins. When he returned about 20 minutes later he sat next to me and we had the greatest talk. He told me one of the things I need was a good song. He asked me who my influences were and I had mentioned Amy Grant, Anne Murray and Krystal Gayle. He said, "Krystal Gayle huh" and I said "yes, I played and sang along to her albums constantly growing up". He said, "well, have you ever met her?" I said, "no, I never have", he said "would you like to?" I said, "absolutely", he said, "well all you have to do is turn around" I turned around and there she was, standing there with the biggest smile on her face, she gave me a hug and spoke to me for a few moments as Mr Atkins caught her up as to who I was. They both signed a napkin which I have to this day. (Well, a napkin was all we had.) We all boarded the flight, those two in first class and me in coach..:) I was the happiest girl on that flight.
Anne Murray, there is a reason that Elvis Presley thought of her as his favorite female singer, listen to any one of her songs and you will know. Anne Murray has made me strive to be the best I can be.
Trisha Yearwood, I wouldnt even know where to start. I appreciate her effortless vocal ability and completely repsect her journey in this life and what she appears to stand for.
Mark Miller (Sawyer Brown) as if I need to state that..:) I have seen Mark or should I say Sawyer Brown perform more times than I should admitt. Admitting the amount of performances may raise an issue of why there isnt a twelve step program out there for fans like me. So far we are in the clear, there has not been a disorder named for merely enjoying great entertainment. The thing is, he is the most entertaining guy I have seen on stage. A sense of freedom up there that he displayed to all who watched. His voice is absolutely remarkable. There is one guy I hope to do a duet with in my lifetime and that is Mark. I learned long ago that I have to be happy at what ever level I am able to experience a career in country music, the lord is in charge of that and for my own sanity I release that to him, (side note: I do intend on working my butt off to see it happen however so dont get me wrong here!!) what I hope for outside of the dream for me is getting a duet recorded with a guy I admire. I hope to manage that one day!!!
