About Me

burn burn burn video made by hannes staudenbauer"THE ONLY CONSTANT QUESTION" - VIDEO made by wauschlfan a.k.a. ARF..******************************************************* ********** review by CRACKED (monochrom.at): his one has been laying around here for some weeks probably months now (seems like I am tidying up huh) and has sparked my interest once and again but probably never enough. I don’t even remember if somebody gave this CDR with the nice handmade cover to me or if it was sent by mail. It’s probably not important anyway. Two stripes of thick paper, reflecting foil, some markers and ballpoint-pens, a little xeroxing – there is not a lot you need for creativity if you have good ideas. The same is true for the music. An eclectic mix of synthies and drummachines, eerie sounds and a little electric guitar. Fashionably, I would say that whoever is behind this project likes Xiu Xiu, but I guess with a really big and expensive studio he could make up some big time music like Trent Reznor. And really, there is the warbling synthie-sounds of the first NIN-album and the same drop in the back vocals. And the songs seem to consist of various parts as well. There are two songs and one intro on this CDR, so either the person behind Revolted! Knows how to restrain from overindulgence (a lot of first offs are made worse by putting everything ever done and then some onto a CDR and then the filler stuff destroys the three of four good things on the demo) or he wanted to find a label putting out a single by him. On the intro he makes his intentions clear: “I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass.” He keeps up the oppositions during the rest of the two songs which makes for interesting albeit heavy listening in some respects. The poppy melody and guitar of the first tracks versus the harsh percussions and the sombre lyrics for instance, these are opposites the listener has to overcome before being able to enjoy. And then the various synthie-parts showing off what his machines can do. That’s harsh stuff for ears used to electroacoustic improvisation and free form noise.Whoever is behind these two songs, he has a lot of ideas, a unique idea of pop-music and enough ego and a big penchant for pathos to make him last for a full album, if he works on it. Could be something big, if he can find somebody to provide the necessary means. I have listened to these songs while writing this, for about three times in a row and they have become better and better on me. Maybe that is their secret. Let’s see.******************************************************** *********
