Bio, eh? What can I sit here and write about? Well let's start from the beginning (always a good place).I got started in music at 16 playing drums with some friends from school. We were called Oratory. We sucked. We had one song that we jammed on over and over. But it was definitely a learning experience on how to play with other musicians. We were only together for maybe a few weeks.Next came to be what I consider my real "first" band. Psykotic. I know...metal, right? Well that's we were shooting for. Covering everything from Megadeth to Metallica to Testament to Pantera, we only had a few shows. But, as with the first band, it was a learning experience, and definitely a killer time. After Psykotic, I graduated high school and through my short-lived college experience, I was blessed to meet many new musicians, and during this period I accompanied the vocal jazz choir from my high school (on guitar), and spent my other time drumming for almost all-OZZY cover band called Chain Letter. Chain Letter featured the insanely talented Donovan Calvert. Donovan was a left handed guitar wizard that also played keyboards....a few songs he did them simultaneously. Truely a feat to watch. I left CL after several months due to personal conflicts with other members. About this time is when the guitar bug started to bite.I hooked up with some of my college musician buddies to start what would eventually become the Super Ultra. This was not a band that I was in, but I was helping them out with shows and such. After the Super Ultra disbanded, Jeremy Painter, Shawn Proffitt, myself and a couple other musicians formed Tracer Bullet. Tracer Bullet struggled for a while and, following some line-up changes, became Flux (which you can hear on the music player). Due to the frustrations of not gigging, Flux disbanded in Sept. of 1997.After the Flux split, Jeremy Painter and myself (along w/former Flux drummer John Thompson) took on a more psychedelic-jammy-spacey-Floyd sounding style calling themselves The Revolve. With the addition of songwriter/rhythm guitarist extraordinaire, Steve "Andy Summers" Clark, The Revolve took on a Pink Floyd meets The Police meets whatever sound. Unfortunately, lineup changes kept The Revolve's sound from solidifying for quite some time. The strongest lineup/sound was with the rhythm section of long-time bassist Paul Courtney, guitarist Mike Brooks, and drumming madman James Wyrick. This was the lineup that really propelled The Revolve's sound, but due to a sparce calendar, the lineup was in flux again, and The Revolve never regained the momentum it once had. The Revolve split up in April of 2002, but still regroups on occasion for reunion shows. After The Revolve split, I took a few months off to focus on putting my life back together (I'd lost a killer job, and my home, and was basically homeless for a period of time). In the late summer of 2002, I joined Britton Road with Ronnie Deane, Jim Spalding, and Mike Potts. Britton Road had a modern rock sound that was defined by Deane's distinct vocals and pop-rock songwriting sensibility. Britton Road was the band where I switched from guitar back to the drums, and saw the return of Mike Brooks to the scene. In early 2003, Britton Road began moonlight as the backing band for local country artist Brandon Hart. Playing with Brandon gave us the opportunity to play several "big time" shows, and would eventually become our full time gig. In a move I'm not too proud of (and still feel shitty about), Ronnie Deane was replaced by Travis Richmond, whom Mike Brooks had played with before in Left Of Center. After playing with Brandon for several months and not seeing the respect we were deserved, Travis, myself, and Brooks split to begin what would eventually become Plainview. We picked up Josh Thompson on bass to fill out the lineup. Mike Brooks would soon bow out to pursue other ventures, and his understudy, Jerrod Hardegree was brought in as the new lead guitarist. Plainview was definitely the most successful band I've been in. We were blessed with many many fans and friends, and were able to share the stage with many great bands. In the summer of 2006, Jerrod Hardegree left the band and I stepped out from behind the kit to assume the role of lead guitarist. Shortly after this, we relocated to Texas since we'd done all we could in Oklahoma. We picked up Evan Ray on the drums in December, and resumed on our path. Unfortunately, internal problems led to Josh Thompson leaving in the summer of 2007, and shortly after, Plainview parted ways.I am currently co-lead vocalist of the acoustic duo Just Travelin'. I am also playing bass for an OKC based band called Uro Steppe, bass for Ryan Dorman & The Clever Guns, as well as lead guitar for OKC solo artist Ronnie Deane.I am currently available for freelance guitar work (session/in-studio). Also available for acoustic shows....both solo and duo (or trio...quatro, etc.) Contact me here or email [email protected] or phone 405-641-7470If you've made it this far, I have all the respect in the world for you. =)SONG INFO:"Abilene" by PLAINIVEW (2005) (written by T. Richmond):
I played the drums and that handy little lick in the turnaround parts of the song (turnaround: the section at the beginning and between the 1st chorus and 2nd verse). Background vocals are me."Spaceman" by FLUX (1997) (written by J. Painter/J. Shipley):
On this track, I performed the drums (we were between drummers at the time and really wanted to get this song recorded), and the rhythm guitars. During the first solo break, the solo is alternating between myself and the other guitarist at the time, Shawn Proffitt...if you really want to figure it out, I play the even number breaks (2nd, 4th, etc.). I also played the clean guitar solo in the middle. I sang the backing vocals in the choruses, and the spoken counterpoint part in the final verse is me."Gran Fury" by THE REVOLVE (2001) (written by J. Painter):
For this track, I played rhythm guitar as well as both solos. The backing vocals were performed by myself and Mike Brooks."I Think It's Time" by BRITTON ROAD (2002) (written by R. Deane):
On this track, I played rhythm and lead guitar.Myspace Layouts
