Cry of a Drowning Man
The only sign of drowning you'll encounter once the music of Cry of a Drowning Man (C.O.A.D.M.) is that of a listener wallowing, totally submerged, in the alt-rock stylings of an artist that knows how to reach directly out and share with the listener in a direct connection, the kind of connection that can only be facilitated by someone completely in control of their art. That is C.O.A.D.M., a Plainville, MA, artist who pours all available energy and talent into the writing of songs. Poignant and undeniably fresh, the songs of C.O.A.D.M. are sure to capture the heart of America.
Empowerment
Music is empowering. There's no doubt about that. Put someone on stage with a song to sing and it doesn't matter how weak or powerless he or she might have felt five minutes before ... that person will be a wielder of power and strength at that moment of triumph. Even just listening to music – good music – is a source of strength for those in need. Cry of a Drowning Man sees this quality in music and uses it to write the finest of material. “Music makes us feel like we can show the world what we can do and how bad we want to live our dream of being rock stars.†Everybody's a rock star in the moment when the right song is playing. Cry of a Drowning Man is sure to achieve goals of stardom in the most real way.
Heart
Music is only functioning at its peak form when its pumped up with heart. “We believe music should be made from the heart with songs that have meaning and should take real skill to make, along with dedication and hard work.†There's lots of elbow grease and sheer hard work to be found in the music of C.O.A.D.M. Of course, there's lots of talent, too. It's a necessary combination for those wishing to turn out songs that are not just good, but great. And greatness shines forth from the songs of C.O.A.D.M. Of that there's no doubt.
Impact
Music is private and public for an artist. Privately, it is a way of working through the hardships and struggles of life. And the more that these are honestly poured into the music, the greater will be the function of the music. And this leads to the public aspect; music that is the most effective makes the biggest impact. And therein is the dynamic so close to the heart of C.O.A.D.M. “Being able to write through our experiences, along with the drive to make a permanent impact on the music industry ...†One could say that that's the mission statement of this incredible band. And one would be right.
