About Me

Riktam Matkin was born 1976 in Amsterdam, Holland.
The family moved first to Africa, then to the Maldives on through Goa and finally to Manali, India where he went to school until he was eight.
After this Riktam moved back to Amsterdam.

When he was 15, he left school and went to India again, where he cruised from Poona to Goa to experience his first trance parties. In those days were only very few and the scene was very small. Neon lights and black light colors schemes were the go. It was in Poona and Goa he made many new friends. The magic of the party scene made him very attracted to the music.

When he returned to Amsterdam in 1993, he started recording music to play for the next season in Goa as a Dj. This proved highly popular since his sound was so different from that which had been playing until then. In those days we would simply say, "Silk cut Sound".

After returning to Amsterdam from another trip to India, he started making music with his friend Bansi, whom he met when he was 14 years old in a coffee shop in Amsterdam. In 1995 they created a group called the Growling Mad Scientists, or GMS as it became known.

GMS came into the world of music to change it forever. Because their sound had more growl and howl and also more light and pace than anything else at the time. Thus GMS became an instant hit and Riktam was suddenly a very, very busy person. Playing at parties around the world and producing music when he had time to spare.

For over ten years Riktam has since been at the front of revolutionizing music with a precise and positive style. In 1997 he moved to Ibiza, Spain where Riktam and Bansi built a new studio. Ever since, a large quantity of powerful audio has been emitted. Riktam continues to Dj, give Live Shows and produce amazing music.

Over the years he has worked with other groups and Artists like Astrix, Hallucinogen, Pixel, Tristan, Domestic, Deedrah and Alien Project.

On top of it he has collaborations with other artists like Wrecked Machines, Raja Ram, and Earthling to create some other groups with their own releases. Groups include: Growling Machines, 1200 Micrograms, Soundaholix and Zorba.

All of these ventures have produced releases ranging over 300.000 titles combined, which mark Riktam as one of the leading forces in the electronic dance scene on an international level.
